Sunday Betting Recaps

Sunday was an action-packed sports betting day even though the Coca-Cola NASCAR race was postponed to Monday.
We had a full 15-game MLB slate in addition to the Indianapolis 500, soccer, golf, USFL football, etc.
Let’s get to the specific details with our daily betting recaps, and then update the spread and total records in each sport, including the NBA and NHL playoff stats heading into Monday’s games.

Auto racing: Josef Newgarden won the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 on his 12th try as the 9th betting choice around 14-1 (team owner Roger Penske won his record-extending 19th); the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race was postponed in North Carolina due to wet weather and will (hopefully) be run on Monday/Memorial Day.

MLB: Favorites went 9-6 on Sunday with the biggest upsets by the Reds (+151 in 8-5 win at Cubs), Guardians (+125 in 4-3 win vs. Cardinals), Rockies (+120 in 11-10 win vs. Mets) and Marlins (+118 in 2-0 win at Angels). Home teams led 11-4. Overs 9-6. Faves lead 459-331 on the season with 9 games closing pick-’em. Home teams lead 421-376 with 2 neutral-site games. Overs lead 392-377-29 with 1 no-action.

USFL: Michigan (+6.5) upset New Jersey 25-22 (Over 39.5) on Sunday to wrap up Week 7. Earlier, Memphis (+3) upset Houston 23-20 (Under 43.5). Underdogs went 3-1 SU and ATS in the week and now lead 18-10 SU on season and 21-7 ATS (still exactly 75%). Over/Unders split 2-2 on the weekend while Unders still lead 16-12.

NBA (ICYMI): With the Celtics’ non-covering 104-103 win at the Heat on Saturday after closing as 2-point road favorites, dogs dipped to 6-4 SU in this round but improved to 9-1 ATS. Faves still lead 51-26 SU and 41-35-1 ATS (54.7%) overall in the playoffs with 1 pick-’em. Road teams improved to 6-4 SU this round but dipped to 7-3 ATS; however, home teams still lead 48-30 SU and 43-34-1 ATS (55.3%) overall. Over/Unders back to .500 at 5-5 this round, but Overs still lead 39-37-2 overall. The “zig-zag” (aka “loser of the last”) won as the Heat lost the previous game and is also back to .500 at 4-4 ATS this round and leads 34-29-1 ATS (54%) overall.

NHL (ICYMI): With the Stars’ 4-2 win as +134 road dogs at the Golden Knights on Saturday, dogs took 4-3 lead in this round with 2 pick-’ems and improved to 42-36 overall in the playoffs with 4 PKs. Home teams dipped to 5-4 this round, but road teams improved to 45-37 overall. Unders 6-3 this round, but Overs took 41-40-1 lead after Over/Unders were tied heading into this game. The zig-zag is only 1-6 this round after being so hot in prior rounds, but still leads 38-30 overall.
