In the meantime, let’s examine where smart money is leaning for Tuesday’s MLB slate…

6:40 p.m. ET: Minnesota Twins at Tampa Bay Rays (-175, 8)

The Twins (31-29) just split a four-game series at the Guardians, losing the series finale 2-1 on Sunday as -135 road favorites. On the flip side, the Rays (43-19) just took three of four at the Red Sox, winning 4-1 on Monday as -145 road favorites. In tonight’s series opener, Minnesota starts righty Louie Varland (3-1, 3.51 ERA) and Tampa Bay counters with fellow righty Zach Eflin (7-1, 3.30 ERA). This line opened with the Rays listed as a -165 home favorite and the Twins a +150 road dog. Pros are laying the chalk with Tampa Bay at home, steaming the Rays up from -165 to -175. Tampa Bay is receiving 85% of bets and 90% of money, signaling a heavy combination of both Pro and Joe support. Home favorites off a win receiving 5-cents of steam or more are 98-47 (68%) this season. AL East teams facing AL Central teams are 44-17 (72%). Tampa Bay also has value as a favorite in a low total game (8), as the fewer amount of expected runs scored are more likely to come from the better team. The Rays have a distinct advantage at the plate, hitting .266 compared to .233 for the Twins. Tampa Bay is 39-15 as a favorite, 34-16 against righties and 26-6 at home.

8:05 p.m. ET: St. Louis Cardinals at Texas Rangers (-150, 9.5)

The Rangers (39-20) took last night’s Interleague series opener 4-3, cashing as -145 home favorites. In tonight’s rematch, the Cardinals (25-36) hand the ball to lefty Matthew Liberatore (1-1, 4.91 ERA) and Texas goes with righty Dane Dunning (4-1, 2.06 ERA). This line opened with the Rangers listed as a -140 home favorite and the Cardinals a +125 road dog. Sharps are riding the hot hand, steaming Texas up from -140 to -150. The Rangers are receiving 84% of bets and 87% of money, indicating both public and sharp support. Home favorites off a win receiving 5-cents of steam or more are 98-47 (68%) this season. Texas has the better bats (hitting .278 vs .251) and superior pitching (team ERA 3.62 vs 4.28). The Rangers are 24-10 as a favorite, 11-6 against lefties and 20-8 at home. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are just 9-14 as a dog, 18-27 against righties and 13-20 on the road. Texas also has value as an Interleague favorite, as the lack of familiarity benefits the better team. Dunning has a 1.47 ERA at home this season in five starts.
