Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Friday, May 5th:

Miami Marlins at Chicago Cubs (-165, 9)

Patrick Wisdom is batting .238 with 11 homers and 21 RBIs for the Cubs this season. The 31-year-old isn’t usually a guy that can be counted on to regularly rack up base hits, as his power is his calling card. However, Wisdom’s base hit total for tonight is just 0.5. That means that you can cash in at -110 odds if he just gets a single hit tonight. And Wisdom homered the last time he faced Edward Cabrera.

On top of Wisdom taking Cabrera yard the last time they met, the third baseman has also gotten hits in four of his last six games. Wisdom also happens to be batting .280 when playing in day games this season, compared to a miserable .200 average at night. This just seems like a good spot to take a shot on a guy playing in the slate’s lone afternoon game. Hopefully we head into the evening at 1-0.

Bet: Wisdom Over 0.5 Hits (-110)

Chicago White Sox at Cincinnati Reds (-115, 8.5)

Hunter Greene has some of the nastiest swing-and-miss stuff in baseball, and he’s already turning in quite the 2023 season. Greene’s 2.89 ERA and 40 strikeouts over 28.0 innings pitched is wildly impressive.

The only problem for Greene is that he’s now facing a White Sox team that really doesn’t strike out that much. Chicago is just 16th in the league in strikeout rate against righties, and Greene could struggle a bit if he’s not missing bats as often as usual. The White Sox are also feeling rather confident right now, as they have won three of their last four games.

It’s also worth noting that Greene has a 4.26 ERA over two home starts this season. He has been a lot better on the road, where he has a 2.49 ERA over four outings.

Bet: Greene Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-110)

Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners (-135, 7)

Cristian Javier has only had more than seven strikeouts once this season, but he’s going to feel pretty good about his chances of racking them up on Friday. Javier gets to face a Seattle team that is second in the league in strikeout rate this year, so this Mariners team can really struggle to make contact.

The only question here is whether Javier can pitch deep enough into this game to make this happen. But he has been flirting with 100 pitches in each of his last five starts. That should go much further against this Mariners lineup than it has against others, so we’re taking the chance.

Bet: Javier Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-120)
