MLB Best Bets and Props:
It’s another Sunday in MLB, so you need to be extra careful when checking lineups and monitoring player news due to the unpredictable nature of getaway games. Nearly every major league team plays during the afternoon, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:05 PM (ET) between the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves. Below are two of my MLB best bets and props for Sunday, August 25, but price shop for the best odds available.
My name is Matt Williams, and I will be covering weekend MLB best bets and props all season long. Be sure to follow me on Twitter/X @MattWi77iams and join my Substack at MattWi77iams/Substack.

Washington Nationals vs Atlanta Braves
12:05 pm ET
I’m not gonna lie. It’s fairly slim pickings for player props on Sunday. My advice is to probably take the day off and come back recharged on Monday.
But if you insist…
For the first prop of the afternoon, we are going to target the Under for Reynaldo Lopez 17.5 Outs prop.
The Nationals are batting .272 with a .335 on-base percentage versus right-handed pitching over the last 14 days with a miniscule 14.7% strikeout rate and a 9.9% swinging strike rate.
Lopez has conceded a 1.44 WHIP over his previous seven outings while going Under 17.5 Outs in five of his last eight starts.
MLB Best Bet: Reynaldo Lopez Under 17.5 Outs (+100)
Chicago Cubs vs Miami Marlins
1:40 pm ET
The Chicago Cubs take on Adam Oller and the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.
Oller has a 7.21 ERA over three seasons in the major leagues, ranking near the bottom of the barrel in all pitching metrics in which you would hope to excel.
Meanwhile, the Cubs have posted a .338 xwOBA over the last 14 days against right-handers with 10.7% barrels per plate appearance.
I would bank on Chicago to put a few runs on the board early against Oller. Their team total is set at just 2.5 for the first five innings.
MLB Best Bet: Chicago Cubs Over 2.5 First Five Team Total (-115)
