MLB value plays for Monday, June 5

Greg Peterson posts his daily handicapped MLB lines for every game every day. Based on his lines vs. the actual lines, here is where Peterson sees value on today’s menu. Peterson also does a daily podcast, The Baseball Betting Show, on which he breaks down every game every day.

Brewers vs. Reds Total 9.5. Greg’s Total 10.1.

The Reds are giving Andrew Abbott his first career start, and while he dazzled at the minor league level, he’s making his MLB debut less than 24 months after pitching in the College World Series. Julio Teheran has allowed just one run in his first two starts with the Milwaukee Brewers, but since the 2017 season, he has a 4.33 ERA and a 4.99 FIP with 1.4 home runs and four walks per nine innings allowed.

Astros vs. Blue Jays Total 10. Greg’s Total 8.9.

The Blue Jays have not gotten the best of 2022 All-Star Alek Manoah this season with a 5.46 ERA and an even higher fielding independent, but the Blue Jays own the best home ERA among the 30 MLB teams this season. The Astros have gotten unexpected production from starter Brandon Bielak, who is registering a 3.19 ERA with two earned runs or fewer in four of his five starts.
