MLB value plays for Sunday, June 4

Greg Peterson posts his daily handicapped MLB lines for every game every day. Based on his lines vs. the actual lines, here is where Peterson sees value on today’s menu. Peterson also does a daily podcast, The Baseball Betting Show, on which he breaks down every game every day.

Rays vs. Red Sox Total 9. Greg’s Total 9.6.

The Rays lead the league in home runs but also have the worst bullpen ERA among MLB teams for the past 35 days. Both bullpens are taxed more than normal due to playing a doubleheader on Saturday. The Red Sox are second in the league in runs per game at home at 6.1 and lead the league in home batting average.

Tigers vs. White Sox (-175). Greg’s Line: Tigers +135.

Though the White Sox bullpen is getting healthier with Garrett Crochet and Liam Hendriks back, they are still the second-worst bullpen in the league in ERA while the Tigers are 11th in this category. White Sox starter Michael Kopech has a 4.52 ERA, but his FIP is 5.76 with two home runs and 4.5 walks per nine innings. He’s backed up by a White Sox lineup that is last in the league in on-base percentage.

Rockies vs. Royals (-135). Greg’s Line: Rockies +103.

Royals starter Brady Singer has a 7.12 ERA for a Royals team that is 17-41 this season and has been tagged for at least five runs in five of his last nine starts. The Royals back him up with a bullpen that is 28th in the league in ERA and 29th in on-base percentage. Rockies starter Kyle Freeland has a career ERA that’s much lower on the road than at home: 3.87 road ERA versus a 4.65 home ERA.
