Underdogs mostly dominated Monday’s sports betting action despite the Nuggets clinching their first NBA Championship as the favorites as the Heat covered the spread, plus dogs went 5-2 in MLB with one game closing pick-em.

 

Let’s get to the specific details with our daily betting recaps, and also update the spread and total records in each current major team sport (including wrapping up the betting stats in the NBA Finals and overall in the playoffs, plus providing the updated stats heading into Tuesday nights’ Game 5 of the NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals).

NBA: Nuggets beat Heat 94-89 in NBA Finals Game 5 on Monday night to win the series 4-1 for their 1st title in the 47th year of their franchise. The ViewFromVegas is the Nuggets did NOT cover after closing as 8-point home favorites (game stayed Under the betting total of 210 points). Road/dog/Under went 1-0 ATS on the night, and so did the “zig-zag” (aka “loser of the last) as the Heat lost the previous game straight-up but covered Monday night.

More NBA: Faves finished 4-1 SU in the Finals, but just 3-2 ATS with the non-cover. Faves also finished 55-28 SU and 44-38-1 ATS (53.7%) overall in the playoffs with 1 game closing pick-’em. Home teams finished 50-34 SU & 44-39-1 ATS (53%). Unders went 4-1 in the series and led 42-40-2 overall. The zig-zag went 3-1 ATS in the series and led 38-30-1 ATS (55.9%) overall.

MLB: Dogs went 5-2 (21-16 last 3 days) with the Reds-Royals game closing pick-’em. The biggest upsets were by the A’s (+225 in 4-3 win vs. Rays for 6th straight victory), Tigers (+215 in 6-5, 10-inning win vs. Braves) & Rockies (+202 in 4-3, 10-inning win at Red Sox). Home/road teams split 4-4. Overs led 5-3. On the season, faves lead 567-409 with 15 PKs. Home teams lead 525-464 with 2 neutral-site games. Unders still lead 483-472-35 with 1 no-action.

NHL (ICYMI): With the Golden Knights’ 3-2 win after closing as -116 road faves at the Panthers on Saturday to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals, faves lead 4-0 this round, but dogs still lead 43-40 in the playoffs with 4 PKs. Home teams dipped to 3-1 this round, but road teams improved to 47-40. Over/Unders dipped to 2-2 this round and 43-43-1 overall. The “zig-zag” improved to 2-1 in this round as VGK had lost the previous game and the zig-zag also improved to 41-31 overall.
