In tonight’s NBA Cup knockout round games, we’re going to see the Phoenix Suns take on the Oklahoma City Thunder before the Los Angeles Lakers host the Victor Wembanyama-less San Antonio Spurs. My daily NBA workload generally features a story on sides/totals and another story on player props. However, with only two games on the card for tonight, I’m dropping all of my plays below. That said, keep reading for my NBA picks and predictions for Wednesday, December 10.

NBA Player Props Today – Wednesday, December 10

Mark Williams Over 9.5 Points (-120) vs. Thunder

Suns at Thunder – 7:30 pm ET

Williams has scored at least 10 points in each of the last eight games, so this is a pick I threw on the VSiN picks page last night. I didn’t want to waste any time. The big man also comes into this game having scored at least 10 in nine of the last 10 contests, and one of the double-digit performances came in a 13-point outing against this Oklahoma City team. The Thunder are the best team in the league when it comes to defending around the basket, but Isaiah Hartenstein won’t be out there tonight. That’s one of the better interior defenders in the league. Of course, Chet Holmgren is an elite rim protector himself, so OKC won’t be in bad shape down around the basket. However, Williams has some size on him. He should be able to do some finishing as a roller, and I also expect him to have a few putbacks. Williams is an elite offensive rebounder.

Julian Champagnie Over 9.5 Points (-111) vs. Lakers

Spurs at Lakers – 10:00 pm ET

Champagnie has scored at least 10 points in seven of the last 11 games, meaning he has been taking advantage of life without Wemby. Well, tonight’s game has a very high total, so we should see some nice performances from role players. Champagnie could be one of them. The Lakers are very weak when it comes to defending corner 3s, which is an area on the floor where Champagnie thrives. He’s a 37.8% 3-point shooter and loves getting to the corners.

We have also seen a bunch of spot-up shooters go Over their point totals against Los Angeles. That list includes Gradey Dick, Max Christie, Klay Thompson, AJ Green, Gary Trent Jr., Vit Krejci, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Buddy Hield. Let’s see if Champagnie can add his name for a second time this season. That’s right: Champagnie had 14 against the Lakers on November 5.

Dylan Harper Over 3.5 Assists (-102) vs. Lakers

Spurs at Lakers – 10:00 pm ET

Harper comes into this game having had at least five assists in each of the last four games. He’s also averaging 11.0 potential assists and 8.5 adjusted assists per game over the last two contests. Harper has just been doing such a good job of attacking downhill. From there, he’s capable of either finishing at the cup or finding teammates. Well, I think he’ll do a little bit of both this evening, but an assist total of 3.5 feels way too low right now. While this team has a lot of mouths to feed in the backcourt, Harper has a usage rate of 28.2% over the last four contests. He’s going to have the ball in his hands a lot. That said, if he sees close to 30 minutes, he should produce.
