NBA Best Bets Today – Monday, November 24
Pacers +10.5 (-110) & Pacers Alt +7.5 (+142 – 0.5 units) vs. Pistons
Pistons at Pacers – 7:00 pm ET
The Pistons have won 12 games in a row, plus they got Jaden Ivey back last game. Detroit now has a strong offensive piece to mix in, which is something the team needs. Perimeter shooting and secondary shot creation outside of Cade Cunningham will be big for the Pistons moving forward. They’re second in the league in defensive rating (110.0), but they desperately need a little scoring punch. If Ivey can provide that, that’ll be a huge win. If not, Detroit might need to make a move — like one for Lauri Markkanen.
This is, however, a lot of points for the Pistons to be laying. Getting Ivey up to speed won’t be an overnight process. This is also a Pacers team that is much better than the record suggests. Now that Bennedict Mathurin is back, Rick Carlisle has some actual dudes to work with. Mathurin, Andrew Nembhard, and Pascal Siakam is an extremely formidable trio, and the team has some other solid players scattered throughout the rotation. At the very least, this is a team that should be able to generate some good looks, even against a good defense. And playing at home should only help, with Indiana having a very strong fanbase.
The Pacers have covered in back-to-back games heading into this one. They’re also 11-9 against the spread under Carlisle when getting 6.5 to 12 points at home. That said, while Detroit probably wins this game outright, I do think Indiana makes it tough.
Grizzlies +8.5 (-115) vs. Nuggets
Nuggets at Grizzlies – 8:00 pm ET
The Grizzlies are still without Ja Morant, Scotty Pippen Jr., and Ty Jerome, so they’re pretty weak at the point guard spot. However, this team has won back-to-back games, and they have also covered in three of their last four. Memphis is starting to look pretty solid on both ends of the floor, with Zach Edey’s return being a big part of that. It also seems like Jaren Jackson Jr. could be back tonight, as he’s listed as questionable after missing the last few games with an ankle injury.
The Nuggets are also going to be without Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon over the next couple of weeks. Those are two awesome defensive players. Denver has some others, but none are as reliable as those two offensively. That said, the Nuggets will be a little weaker on both ends of the floor.
This is obviously a game that Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray can pull out for Denver. However, winning by margin could be difficult on the road. This is also a very tough spot. This is going to be the third game in four nights for the Nuggets. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are about to play only their fifth game in 12 days. Memphis’ edge in rest should help prevent the team from getting blown out.
