NBA Best Bets Today – Friday, November 28
Hornets ML (+120) vs. Bulls
Bulls at Hornets – 7:30 pm ET
The Bulls have Kevin Huerter, Nikola Vucevic, Patrick Williams, and Coby White listed as questionable this evening. Isaac Okoro also happens to be doubtful for Chicago. It seems like there’s a decent chance the team will be without some rotation players, and this is a game that would be tough at full strength.
Under Charles Lee, the Hornets are 6-4 straight-up when playing at home in games with lines of +3 to -3. This team is capable of winning at home when facing opponents that aren’t clearly superior to them. Meanwhile, the Bulls are 22-44 SU under Billy Donovan when facing teams that outrebound opponents by at least 3.0 rebounds per game. Well, Charlotte is second in the NBA in rebound rate (53.6%) this year, so the team’s toughness on the glass could be a big factor here.
I also just don’t think the Bulls have a major advantage when it comes to shot-making. Now that LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller are back, this Hornets team has some real firepower. Those two are both tremendous offensive players, plus Kon Knueppel has been awesome this year. That trio should be able to hold its own against all of Chicago’s perimeter options.
Jazz ML (-120 – 2 units) vs. Kings
Kings at Jazz – 9:30 pm ET
The Kings are 2-8 with a net rating of -9.7 on the road this season. Meanwhile, the Jazz have a net rating of -0.1 at home. That said, Utah is a much better team when playing inside this arena. The Kings will also be without Domantas Sabonis in this one, leaving the team with a miserable big man rotation. That’s not what you want against the Jazz. Utah has one of the best bigs on the planet in Lauri Markkanen, and one of the team’s few weaknesses right now is the center spot. Well, if Sacramento can’t exploit that, the home team will be in great shape here.
I also like what the Jazz have on the perimeter. I know Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan are good players, but Keyonte George might be the best guard on the floor in this one. With that in mind, Utah really might have the better players in this game, and this is also the better coached team.
The Jazz also happen to be 26-18 SU as home favorites under Will Hardy. So, they might not be favored very often, but they are pretty reliable when they are. Meanwhile, the Kings are 4-11 as road underdogs of 6 or fewer points under Doug Christie. They’re also 10-29 SU as underdogs under Christie. They don’t really win games they’re not supposed to win.
These odds just feel a little off. I think the Jazz should be favored by 4.5 or 5 points, and our VSiN matchup pages suggest the same. Steve Makinen had an estimated line of Utah -4.4 for this one. That’s why I took the Jazz moneyline at -120. I also went bigger on it than I usually do.
