Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
Jarrett Allen Over 13.5 Points (-125) vs. Lakers
Lakers at Cavaliers – 7:00 pm ET
Evan Mobley will be out the next 1-3 weeks with another calf strain, which definitely stinks considering I wrote about my big Cavaliers future play yesterday. However, I think Cleveland will be alright while waiting for him to return, and I like Allen to take advantage of his absence in tonight’s meeting with Los Angeles.
Allen is averaging 15.5 points per game when Mobley doesn’t play, which is a slight bump when looking at his season-long numbers. He’s also going up against a Lakers team that is 21st in the NBA at defending around the basket, where he scores 68% of his points.
Coby White Over 19.5 Points (-120) vs. Pacers
Bulls at Pacers – 7:00 pm ET
White comes into this game having scored at least 22 points in five consecutive games, and he had 22 against this Pacers team on December 5. He’s just scorching hot for the Bulls right now, and I think this is a good matchup for him.
While Indiana is very good at defending above-the-break 3s, the team is just 27th in the NBA defending inside 10 feet. Well, White has improved as an off-the-dribble scorer, and he’s scoring 41% of his points from that part of the floor. I also don’t think the Pacers will be able to completely keep White down from 3. This is a guy that launches 7.2 triples per game, so he’ll get them up even if they’re not perfect looks — and I trust him to hit a couple.
I can also see this being a game in which White gets to the line a lot. He’s averaging a career-high 5.0 free throw attempts per game this season, and only one team in the league puts opponents on the line more than Indiana does.
Kon Knueppel Over 16.5 Points (-130) & Alt Points 20+ (+165 – 0.5 units) vs. Grizzlies
Hornets at Grizzlies – 8:00 pm ET
Knueppel is going through a bit of a cold spell lately, but I think he’ll snap out of it against the Grizzlies. This Memphis team is just 26th in the NBA defending above-the-break 3s, which make up 44% of Knueppel’s scoring. He really should get some clean looks from deep. Also the Grizzlies are a bottom-five defense when it comes to guarding DHOs and pull-up jumpers, so Knueppel will have other ways to get himself scoring opportunities.
It’s also hard to ignore that Knueppel has had at least 17 points in 63% of his games this year. On top of that, he’s averaging 20.7 points per game on the road. That said, I’m firing Knueppel up to go Over 16.5 but I’m also sprinkling a little something on an alternate of 20+.
