Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
Egor Demin Over 18.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-104) vs. Magic
Magic at Nets – 7:30 pm ET
Demin has been putting up numbers lately, averaging 21.8 combined points, rebounds, and assists over the last eight games. He has also had at least 25 in two of the eight. Demin just looks way more comfortable than he did earlier in the year, whether that’s knocking down shots, attacking the basket, or setting up teammates. With that in mind, I like Demin to have at least 19 points, rebounds, and assists tonight.
The Magic are obviously good on defense when they’re healthy, but they’re not healthy right now. In fact, they’re extremely burnable on the defensive end now, and some of their deficiencies play into Demin’s strengths. Orlando is weak defending handoffs. The team is also unreliable guarding pick-and-roll ball handlers. Well, Demin is going to be able to do some damage attacking there. Also, while the Magic are pretty good about getting out on spot-up shooters, they’re just 27th in the NBA defending pull-up jumpers. That could be massive for Demin, who scores 32% of his points on pull-ups.
If Demin can get himself going as a scorer, he should then be able to get himself over the finish line with his passing and rebounding. He’s a point guard in a wing’s body, making him a nightly threat to fill up the stat sheet.
Mark Williams Over 18.5 Points + Rebounds (-114) vs. Grizzlies
Suns at Grizzlies – 8:00 pm ET
Williams had 20 points and 12 rebounds against the Grizzlies on October 29. That’s a noteworthy performance when looking at tonight’s game, as Memphis will be without Zach Edey again here. When Edey is out, the Grizzlies are just very undersized, so Williams should be able to take advantage. He’s big, athletic, and skilled. Memphis is also just 23rd in the NBA defending PnR rollers this year, so Williams should score a little as a play finisher. I also expect him to do some work with putbacks, and I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of him having at least 10 boards against this undersized frontcourt.
Don’t read too much into Williams having only four points and eight rebounds against the Rockets last game. The Suns were playing the second leg of a back-to-back, and they’re very careful with Williams’ minutes on those. That’s why he played only 21 minutes in that contest. He should be back up to 30 or so here, and this matchup is much more favorable.
De’Aaron Fox Over 19.5 Points (-105) vs. Lakers
Lakers at Spurs – 9:30 pm ET
I’m a little surprised Fox’s point total is so low. There’s a chance Victor Wembanyama doesn’t play tonight, as San Antonio wants to keep him healthy moving forward. Well, Fox has played 14 games without Wembanyama this season, averaging 24.6 points per game in those contests. He’s a real threat to torch a miserable Lakers defense if he’s given the ultimate green light to go out and create. However, even if we do see Wembanyama for 20 or so minutes, I don’t see any reason Fox can’t flirt with 20.
Fox actually had 20 against Los Angeles back on December 10. This Lakers team still can’t defend at the rim, and they’re miserable in isolation. I just don’t think there’s much preventing Fox from living in the paint, and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his jumper going again.
