Noteworthy OptaAI Player Prop Edges for Wednesday
Below you’ll find some of the projections that stood out when looking at our OptaAI NBA Player Prop projections. Subscribers have access to hundreds of others on a daily basis!
Josh Giddey Under 7.5 Assists (+104) vs. Kings
Kings at Bulls – 8:00 pm ET
Giddey is averaging only 6.3 assists per game this season, and our OptaAI projections like him to finish with seven or fewer again tonight. In fact, OptaAI has Giddey finishing with 5.64 assists tonight, giving him the biggest margin (-1.86) on the board in the assists column. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with this one, but the Kings are tied for ninth in the NBA in raw defensive rating (111.7) this season. They’ve been a little better than expected.
Jaden McDaniels Over 0.5 Blocks (-239) vs. Lakers
Lakers at Timberwolves – 9:30 pm ET
McDaniels is projected to finish with 1.77 blocks against the Lakers tonight. That’s intriguing because McDaniels is available with a juiced Over on 0.5 blocks (-239 at DraftKings). That could be a good option to throw in parlays. However, McDaniels is also out there at +175 to finish with two or more blocks, which OptaAI clearly views as doable. So far, McDaniels is averaging 2.5 blocks per game. He has had at least two in three of Minnesota’s four games.
Nikola Jokic Under 27.5 Points (-123) vs. Pelicans
Pelicans at Nuggets – 9:00 pm ET
Jokic hasn’t scored more than 25 points in a game this season. Through three games, the 30-year-old seems happy to just sit there and find his open teammates. Let’s see what happens tonight. OptaAI has Jokic finishing with 18.04 points, which is way below his total of 27.5 points. That margin really stood out when looking at tonight’s projections.
Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
Malik Monk Over 1.5 Made 3s (-108) vs. Bulls
Kings at Bulls – 8:00 pm ET
Chicago is only allowing 7.0 made 3s per game this season. That’s the best mark in the league this year, by far. However, the Bulls still play at a very fast pace, they’re not great defensively, and they’re due to start giving up some triples soon. Look for Monk to capitalize on that.
Monk didn’t knock down any 3s against the Thunder last game, but he was absolutely gunning before that one. He knocked down at least three 3s in Sacramento’s first three games of the year, and he even made six triples in a win over the Jazz on October 24th. Monk is back to being an instant-offense sixth man for this group, and he’s thriving so far.
Monk also had a game in which he went 5 for 10 from deep against this same Bulls team last year. That said, knocking down two 3s seems very reasonable.
Jerami Grant Over 15.5 Points (-119) vs. Jazz
Trail Blazers at Jazz – 9:00 pm ET
I’m going to keep going back to Grant Overs until there’s a reason not to. The wing has scored at least 17 points in all four of Portland’s games this season, and he has scored at least 22 points in three of those four. Grant’s shooting splits are now 57.4/47.8/83.3. He’s playing some really good basketball off the bench for a Blazers team that desperately needs offense, and he really looks to have some of his explosiveness back.
Tonight, Grant also happens to be going up against a Jazz team that was the worst defensive team in basketball last year. This feels like another opportunity for him to shine.
Jaren Jackson Jr. Over 27.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110)
Grizzlies at Suns – 10:00 pm ET
Only Brooklyn (131.2) has a worse raw defensive rating than Phoenix’s 123.7 this season. And the Suns can be especially weak around the basket, meaning Jackson Jr. should have some good opportunities to get easy buckets in the paint tonight. Phoenix is also allowing opponents to shoot 37.6% from deep, which could mean that Jackson will get some quality looks from 3 — where he’s going to increase his 3-point percentage of 28.6% very, very soon.
Jackson should also be able to impact this game on the glass, even if he’s not the greatest rebounder in the world. And anything else he chips in as a passer will just be gravy.
It’s just hard not to like that Jackson averaged 27.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game against the Suns last season. And he did that over three games. I like him to continue terrorizing Phoenix tonight.
