Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record.
Tristan da Silva Over 1.5 Made Threes (-125) vs. Hawks
Hawks at Magic – 7:00 pm ET
I don’t want to get too carried away with what I saw in preseason, but it sure seems like Sean Sweeney likes da Silva’s game and wants him to be more aggressive. Da Silva actually attempted 9.3 triples per game in four preseason games, and he knocked down 3.5 per game. Sweeney knows that Orlando needs improved spacing this year, and perhaps a jump in volume from da Silva can help. Well, I’m banking on da Silva’s willingness to shoot to carry over into the regular season. I know this isn’t the greatest matchup in the world, but if da Silva launches enough shots then he should connect on two. I also like that da Silva shot 39.9% at home last year. He’s more comfortable in this building.
Scottie Barnes Over 7.5 Rebounds (-103) vs. Bulls
Bulls at Raptors – 7:30 pm ET
Last year, when Barnes went up against top-five teams in pace and bottom-10 teams in defensive rating, he averaged 8.6 rebounds per game. He also had at least eight boards in five of his final six matchups like that, and four of those games featured Barnes pulling down at least 11 rebounds. Well, this year’s Bulls team has a different man patrolling the sidelines, as Tiago Splitter is in for Billy Donovan at head coach. However, Chicago still profiles as an uptempo team. Also, not much was done to address the Bulls defense. That said, this seems like a matchup in which both teams will be flying up and down the floor, and I expect Barnes to gobble up boards on both ends of the court.
Yves Missi Over 6.5 Points (-116) vs. Pacers
Pacers at Pelicans – 8:00 pm ET
Missi seems to be the unquestioned starting center for New Orleans, which makes sense considering he’s a toolsy defense-first player and he’s now playing for a defensive-minded coach in Jamahl Mosley. Well, with a solidified role should come decent minutes, and that’s what’s interesting to me looking at this game. Last season, in the 15 games in which Missi played at least 25 minutes, the big man went Over 6.5 points 10 times and averaged 8.7 points per game. Well, that’s good enough for me to take a flier on the Over. Indiana is going to be a team that plays with some real tempo, and the group was just 27th in the NBA defending at the basket last year. That should improve with a full year of Ivica Zubac, but let’s see it first.
