NBA Best Bets Today – April 6th

Houston Rockets at Golden State Warriors – 8:30 pm ET

Golden State has been great since acquiring Jimmy Butler. The 35-year-old played his first game with the Warriors on February 8th. Since then, Golden State is 21-5 and has an Efficiency Differential of +9.7. The Warriors are also fifth in the NBA in both points per 100 possessions (120.3) and points allowed per 100 possessions (110.7). That’s remarkable. However, Houston is 19-8 in that same span. The Rockets also have an Efficiency Differential of +8.4 since then, and they’ve been the best defensive team in the league in points allowed per 100 possessions (109.4) since that date. So, while Golden State is the shiny new toy, let’s not disrespect Houston — especially coming off a beatdown of Oklahoma City. This Rockets team has the type of defenders you need to rattle the Warriors, and this is a matchup in which Houston’s size could be overwhelming for Golden State. That said, I’m taking the points with the Rockets and also sprinkling the moneyline. Very little separates these two.

Bet: Rockets +5.5 (-108 – 1.5 units) & Rockets ML (+180 – 0.5 units)

Milwaukee Bucks at New Orleans Pelicans – 8:30 pm ET

I have no interest in watching this Bucks-Pelicans game, and New Orleans’ roster currently resembles Peter Klaven’s eclectic group of groomsmen from I Love You, Man. However, I’m backing the Pelicans strictly because of the spot for the Bucks. Milwaukee just played a tough overtime game against Miami last night, so this is a team that should be pretty banged up and tired as it heads to New Orleans. And this is not a Bucks team that I have faith in anyway. So, regardless of who will be out there for the Pelicans, they should be able to compete in this one as long as they play hard. Obviously, that’s not a given at this time of year. Bad teams are pretty blatantly taking at the moment. But I’ll take my chances.

Bet: Pelicans +9 (-114 – 1.5 units)

NBA Player Props Today – April 6th

Phoenix Suns at New York Knicks – 7:00 pm ET

I had Bradley Beal to go Over 2.5 assists against the Celtics the other night. The 31-year-old ended up turning in one of the worst efforts of his entire career in that one, scoring one point on 0 for 7 shooting from the floor and 0 for 3 shooting from deep. But Beal did have five assists in the game. He also played 30 minutes. As long as he gets that type of playing time, he’s a threat to dish out four or five dimes. Beal is averaging 3.7 assists per game this season, so he generally flirts with these numbers. However, he’s going to have even more on-ball responsibilities with Kevin Durant out the rest of the season. Also, Beal is averaging 7.0 potential assists and 4.9 adjusted assists per game this season. So, as long as his teammates don’t completely let him down, he should be able to hit the four-assist mark against the Knicks. This is a game that could be pretty high in scoring, meaning Beal should get his stats.

Bet: Beal Over 3.5 Assists (-118)

Additional Plays

This is where I’ll include any late added plays, teasers/parlays or in-season futures. Come back before tip if you don’t want to miss anything. It’s always possible I’ll add something to my card.
