NBA Best Bets Today – March 29th

Los Angeles Lakers at Memphis Grizzlies – 8:00 pm ET

It would be nice if Ja Morant sheds his questionable tag and plays here. Memphis is just 16-14 without the explosive offensive talent, but the team is 28-15 with him in the lineup. However, even if Morant isn’t out there, I wouldn’t say the Grizzlies are dead here. Memphis is one of the best home teams in the entire NBA, as the Grizzlies are 25-11 with a net rating of +8.7 inside FedExForum. Memphis is also playing its first game with Tuomas lisalo on the sidelines. While many Grizzlies players are surely upset about Taylor Jenkins’ ousting, you usually see a significant buy-in when a coach is making his debut. So, while I personally didn’t like the way Memphis handled the Jenkins situation, I think there’s going to be a buzz in the arena tonight, and I think we’re going to see a strong effort from the Grizzlies. And for what it’s worth, it’s not like Los Angeles has proven to be a better team than Memphis. The Grizzlies are fifth in the NBA in adjusted net rating (+4.6). The Lakers are just 15th (+0.6). And Dunks & Threes’ player-driven team ratings, which are predictive and account for what Luka Doncic has done with Los Angeles, still have Memphis rated a little better than JJ Redick’s group. That said, this feels like a great buy-low spot.

Bet: Grizzlies ML (-135 – 1.5 units)

NBA Player Props Today – March 29th

Boston Celtics at San Antonio Spurs – 8:00 pm ET

One thing that stands out when looking at our VSiN NBA Prop Bet Analyzer is that Devin Vassell has gone Over his PRA total in 12 of his last 15 starts. I actually played this one on Tuesday and Vassell flew Over his number. Since the start of March, Vassell is averaging 19.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, and that’s good for 28.6 combined points, rebounds and assists per game. Realistically, San Antonio just doesn’t have many other players that are dangerous with the basketball in their hands right now. So, it makes a lot of sense for the Spurs to roll out the ball to Vassell, who they also want to get some valuable on-ball reps for next season. Of course, Boston’s defense is tremendous, so this isn’t the greatest matchup in the world. But the same thing was true in his meeting with Detroit on Tuesday, and Vassell had 26 points, six boards and one assists. Even against great defenses, somebody has to produce offensively. That should be Vassell tonight.

Bet: Vassell Over 25.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110)

Additional Plays

This is where I’ll include any late added plays, teasers/parlays or in-season futures. Come back before tip if you don’t want to miss anything. It’s always possible I’ll add something to my card.

PARLAY: Heat ML vs. 76ers & Bulls Alt +7.5 vs. Mavericks (-152 – 1.5 units)
