Grizzlies ML (+100) vs. Jazz
Grizzlies at Jazz – 9:00 pm ET
You’re going to see below that today’s article is just a newspaper ad in which I’m professing my love for this year’s Memphis team, so I apologize in advance. However, I am becoming more and more impressed with this group by the day, and I grabbed some futures I wussed out on before the year.
As far as tonight goes, I’m taking Memphis against Utah once again. Playing in Salt Lake City should really help the Jazz as they look to get revenge on the Grizzlies for a 123-103 loss on October 21. However, it would take an uncharacteristically cold shooting night from Memphis for Utah to flip the script. The reality is that shot-making in the backcourt — and on the wing — isn’t what separates these teams right now. It’s the Grizzlies frontcourt that currently makes this a rough matchup for the Jazz. With Jusuf Nurkic currently out with an injury — and Walker Kessler in purple and gold — I don’t know how Utah overcomes the interior toughness of guys like Zach Edey and Isaiah Stewart. Memphis outrebounded Utah 55-38 when these teams met five days ago, and I’m not sure Will Hardy will have much of an answer for that.
Playing harder — and playing cleaner — should help the Jazz keep this game from being a 20-point blowout again, but I’m not sure there’s much they can do to make me believe a victory is coming.
Memphis is also 6-1 straight-up and 5-2 against the spread on the road in games with lines of +3 to -3 under Tuomas Iisalo.
Added Plays (Late Picks, Parlays, Teasers, Futures)
Memphis Grizzlies Over 34.5 Wins (+100 – 4 units) – I flirted with going Over on Memphis before the season, so I’m happy to go Over on an in-season win total of 34.5. Memphis is currently 3-0, has the league’s sixth-best raw net rating (+10.8), and has been superb in crunch-time situations. Of course, we should see the Grizzlies cool off a bit. This isn’t one of the best teams in the Western Conference. However, Ty Jerome and Zach Edey are certified dudes. Both of them were awesome in 2025-26, but they weren’t able to stay healthy. Early in the 2026-27 season, they both look exactly like they did a year ago. That said, with Cam Boozer now in the mix, this team is very underrated when looking at strictly talent. They’re also well-coached, they’re deep, and they play hungry.
Ty Jerome To Win Most Improved Player (+400 – 2.5 units) – This is another play that I flirted with before the year. In fact, if you go back and watch the Hardwood Handicappers season preview episode, I brought him up to Kelley and JVT as an option. I just didn’t end up firing, which I really regret now. Well, I’m taking a piece of it. Jerome is the new betting favorite in the market, and I genuinely believe that he’s 62 games played away from winning. So, while I missed the favorable numbers available before the year, I’m not allowing myself to be left with nothing if he wins.
