Friday Best Bet Results

Thursday was a surreal day in the Tuley’s Takes home office and in the race and sports books.
In addition to following all the sports betting action with MLB and Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals, we’ve been turned into amateur meteorologists monitoring the air quality index (AQI) and its impact on Belmont Weekend at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. We’ve been getting educated by my Circa Survivor proxy client/meteorologist/professor/CBB nut Ivetta Abramyan (@IvettaAbramyan). Assuming they race this weekend, check out my Team Tuley picks and other horse racing coverage at VSiN.com/horse-racing/.

We spent part of the day at Circa signing up other proxy clients and getting ready for the hockey game (we were glad we passed on the underdog Golden Knights to save some money), though we didn’t stay for the game as it was my son Maddux’s 14th birthday and he wanted to go to IHOP for chocolate-chip pancakes for his b-day dinner (he’s growing into a little man, but still a boy as his actual party with his friends is next week at Chuck E. Cheese).
But I digress.
As for the bets I did make Thursday, we went 0-1-1 with a loss on my top play on the  Cubs First 5 Innings +115 at Angels as Drew Smyly did his job but the Cubs only managed 1 run in trailing 2-1 after 5 innings for the purposes of our bet.
We also didn’t get any offensive support in my secondary play on the Tigers First 5 Innings +185 at the Phillies as they didn’t get a hit off Zack Wheeler until the 8th inning, but at least we salvaged a 0-0 push as the Phillies also didn’t score in the first half of the game.
Let’s look for plays on Friday as we get Game 4 of the NBA Finals. I’m also just going with 1 MLB First 5 Inning play of the day.

NBA Friday Best Bet

Heat +3.5 vs. Nuggets: We were proud of the fact we passed on the Heat as a home underdog in Game 3 because the Nuggets were in the zig-zag role after losing Game 2. But now after the loss, we’re happy to take the Heat in the zig-zag role to bounce back again. We’re actually surprised that after the Nuggets closed -3.5 on Wednesday that we’re still getting +3.5 as we feared the books would shade the number toward the Heat, but it appears the masses are jumping back on the bandwagon of the favorite (and for some reason against the Heat, who have continuously bounced back when counted out).

MLB Friday Best Bet

Marlins First 5 Innings +120 at White Sox: Our F5 plays have cooled off lately, so let’s just go with our top play Friday on the Marlins as the White Sox are in a “mini-anti-swagger” spot after having a 5-game winning streak snapped in Game 2 of Thursday’s doubleheader at the Yankees. We also get Eury Perez (3-1, 2.25 ERA) for the Marlins and we’re not opposed to fading Dylan Cease (3-3, 4.63 ERA) these days.
