New York Giants at Chicago Bears – 1:00 pm ET
Darius Slayton is coming off a solid game against the 49ers, hauling in five of his seven targets for 62 yards. The 28-year-old has now been targeted a total of 18 times in the last three games he has played, and six or so looks should be all he’ll need to go Over his receiving yard total of 40.5 against Chicago.
The Bears are still without star corner Jaylon Johnson, which is part of the reason this team is 22nd in the NFL in Dropback EPA per play allowed (0.147). Our WR-CB Matchup Tool also loves Slayton’s matchup with Nahshon Wright, ranking it as the third-best matchup for any receiver this week. Wright has a Pro Football Focus grade of 48.4 this season, putting him 100th out of 107 players at the position. He has been a nightmare in coverage this year, and Slayton is a big-play receiver that could burn by him down the field.
Our OptaAI player prop projections also happen to back up this handicap, projecting Slayton to go for 52.05 yards. Let’s just hope the weather doesn’t make it impossible on the offenses in this one. The conditions don’t look like they’ll be favorable for the quarterbacks, but they also don’t look like they’ll be dooming.
Bet: Slayton Over 40.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
New England Patriots at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 1:00 pm ET
Our projections have Drake Maye throwing for 314.85 yards this week, which is an edge of 70.35 to the Over on his DraftKings total of 244.5. However, there’s a 242.5 out there, making this even more enticing.
I’m not sure Maye will ultimately throw for 300 or more yards, as that’s something he hasn’t yet done in his young career. However, Maye has thrown for at least 243 yards in six of the nine games he has played this season. He has also done so in four of the last five.
Maye is second in the NFL in EPA + CPOE composite at rbsdm, which is a great resource for some advanced NFL numbers. The second-year stud is extremely accurate to all parts of the field, and he’s not afraid to take some deep shots. That said, in a meeting with Baker Mayfield in which New England will surely need to score some points, it’s hard to imagine Maye not showing up in a big way.
Tampa Bay has also allowed some massive performances to opposing quarterbacks this year. So don’t be fooled by some of the team’s strong defensive showings. There’s a reason this game has a total of 48.5.
Bet: Maye Over 242.5 Passing Yards (-114)
