We’re back with another edition of Man + Machine = Winning Prop Bets in the NFL. At least, that’s the objective.

As we move deeper into Week 8, we’re working with a much larger sample of data to help inform our handicapping. But there’s another element worth considering: the teams have access to that same information. As the season progresses, defensive adjustments become inevitable. Teams identify their biggest weaknesses, opponents recognize those vulnerabilities, and what worked a few weeks ago might not be as effective today.

With that in mind, let’s look at three player props where the numbers, matchups and game scripts could create some opportunities.

Ashton Jeanty Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (-107)

Jeanty hasn’t rushed for more than 27 yards since Week 4 against Kansas City. That’s a reflection of the Raiders’ overall struggles more than anything involving their running back.

Las Vegas enters this matchup riding a four-game losing streak, and Jeanty has received just 43 carries during that stretch. For perspective, he had 44 combined carries over the first two games of the season. The opportunity simply hasn’t been there.

This week presents a much more favorable matchup against a Jets defense that has been getting gashed on the ground. New York allows the sixth-most rushing yards per game to opposing running backs (106.6). The recent results are particularly encouraging: Ollie Gordon rushed for 103 yards last week, while New England’s running backs combined for 124 yards in Week 6, including 57 from Corey Kiner.

The Raiders are just 1.5-point underdogs, suggesting a competitive game where they should have an opportunity to establish some offensive balance. If Jeanty can get to 15 carries, he should have a legitimate shot at clearing this number.

Opta-AI projects Jeanty for 51.61 rushing yards, giving us a +2.7% edge to the over.

Jonathan Taylor Over 16.5 Receiving Yards (-117)

The Jaguars present a difficult matchup for the Colts, and the timing couldn’t be much worse for Indianapolis.

Jacksonville enters this game with the best run defense in the NFL. The Colts offense revolves around Taylor’s impact running the football. Making matters more difficult, the Colts are in sell mode, and one of their biggest moves this week was trading Quenton Nelson to Seattle.

Getting Taylor going on the ground was already going to be a challenge against this defense, even with one of the best run-blocking guards in football. Now, without Nelson, I’m not sure how Indianapolis maintains the same offensive balance.

If the Colts are going to get their best offensive player involved, they may have to find alternative ways to get him the football. That could mean a greater emphasis on using Taylor as a receiver rather than relying on him to do damage between the tackles.

Opta-AI sees a similar opportunity, projecting Taylor for 21.85 receiving yards. That’s a +18.2% edge to the over, making this one of the more intriguing numbers on the board.

Rachaad White Over 44.5 Rushing Yards (-117)

In a shocking turn of events, the Eagles have become a run defense worth targeting in 2026. Philadelphia allows the third-most rushing yards per game to opposing running backs, and the last two weeks have been particularly ugly.

Javonte Williams just gashed them for 155 rushing yards on Monday Night Football. The week before, Chuba Hubbard piled up 120 yards. What do those performances have in common? Both came with Tanner McKee starting at quarterback for Philadelphia, and both games featured the Eagles as home underdogs. A situation they likely wouldn’t have found themselves in if Jalen Hurts were healthy.

Beyond the defensive struggles, the game scripts are just as important. In both games, Philadelphia’s opponents leaned on the running game and bled the clock in the second half. That could be the same scenario this week.

Washington enters as a six-point favorite. If that number holds up, Rachaad White should get more carries in the second half with the Commanders playing with a lead. Washington desperately needs this game to stay in the NFC East race, and leaning into Philadelphia’s vulnerability against the run should be a significant part of the game plan.

Opta-AI agrees, projecting White for 48.30 rushing yards, giving us a +5.0% edge to the over.
