There is no doubt that bettors have to treat betting the preseason in a completely different way than the regular season. There are different motivations, mass resting of starters, and lines all too unfamiliar to what you will see in a few weeks. That said, in going through the recent logs of preseason games for each team, it’s easy to see that certain tendencies jump off the page. That is usually the case when you analyze any set of data in which circumstances are similar. With that in mind, in this piece I am going to share some of the most prominent team-by-team trends that have formed in the preseasons of recent years.

Hopefully you caught my piece from yesterday detailing 10 different preseason league-wide systems that have emerged recently, as that is usually the first place at which I start my own handicapping routine. These team trends are second.

All of these angles will be tracked and qualified on a week-to-week basis this NFL preseason in our upcoming VSiN NFL Preseason Analytics reports, the first of which will be out Wednesday evening to cover the full slate of games this weekend. In the reports, we essentially tell you which teams apply for each system that week and which of these team trends will be in play.
