Dallas Cowboys vs. Carolina Panthers (-3; 43)
Was I surprised when this opened with Carolina as the favorite around -1? No, but I am surprised this has taken money up to the key number of 3. Neither of these teams are good, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. The Cowboys lost a key piece of the defense last week to a gruesome leg injury which should make the run defense even more porous. The Panthers may be worse against the run, which should allow the Cowboys to set up the pass after pounding on the ground.
This comes down to the offenses and which you trust more. While Bryce Young looks like a legitimate NFL quarterback after coming back off the bench, I still do not trust this Panthers team as a field goal favorite.
Cooper Rush has been fine as the Dallas QB, and you’ve got better playmakers on the offensive side of the ball for this Cowboys team, specifically CeeDee Lamb. If this was sitting at Panthers -1 or -1.5 it would be a pass for me, but catching a full field goal is too good to pass up here.
NFL Week 15 Best Bet: Dallas Cowboys +3
Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings (-6.5; 43.5)
We rode this Vikings team to an easy cover last week, and I’m getting right back aboard here. After a midseason swoon, Sam Darnold has played well the last five weeks for the Vikings. The offense should be able to effectively move the ball on the ground and through the air on a Bears defense that has gotten worse as the season has progressed.
When the Bears offense is on the field, it will be tough sledding. The Vikings’ defense held this Bears team in check through three quarters when they faced earlier in the season before giving up 17 in the fourth quarter. Eleven of those seventeen points came in the final two minutes with a touchdown, two-point conversion, on-side kick and field goal.
The Vikings closed -3 in that game in Chicago. Since then, I have upgraded Minnesota and downgraded Chicago. When you include the flip in home field, I make this north of 7, so let’s jump on the Vikings train for another week.
NFL Week 15 Best Bet: Minnesota Vikings -6.5
Prop Plays
Chuba Hubbard Over 81.5 Rushing Yards
The Panthers have shown that they will stay committed to the run no matter how the game is going. Well, for the first time this season, they are projected to have a positive game state to do so. That means plenty of carries for Hubbard against a bad Dallas run D who lost their top run defender. Sounds like a great spot to take the over.
Jayden Daniels Over 40.5 Rushing Yards
With six teams coming off the late bye, it will be interesting to see who benefits the most. I believe that the Commanders will be one of those teams, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Daniels battled a rib injury that was starting to look better before the bye. With the extra week to heal, I expect him to be a more willing runner, which should translate into 8-12 carries. If I’m correct, this rushing prop is 10-15 yards too low. Let’s play the over.
Other Plays:
Davante Adams Over 65.5 Receiving Yards
Aaron Rodgers Over 232.5 Passing Yards
Allen Lazard Over 22.5 Receiving Yards
