Cincinnati vs. Kansas City (-6; 48)
With Week 2, it’s always important to check the look-ahead lines to see how much the market has adjusted. This game was Chiefs -4.5 in the last week, thus a 1.5-point adjustment. I was already higher on the market than the Chiefs and lower on the Bengals before Week 1, so I played some -4.5, and I am coming right back here at -6.
One of the bigger adjustments I made after Week 1 was to the Bengals, but not because of the loss, but how they lost. DJ Reader was a huge part of this Bengals run stop unit last year when healthy, while now he is out of town, and you saw the Bengals get gashed by the run against the Patriots. I expect more of the same on Sunday when Pachico gets rolling.
On the offensive side, Burrow just isn’t right. He didn’t push the ball downfield, and the zip was missing on his passes. Chase doesn’t look like himself, Tee Higgins is doubtful, and they STILL have not fixed that offensive line.
KC will be juiced up for this game; they remember Burrow-head and have extra time to prepare. Let’s lay it with the Chiefs.
NFL Week 2 Best Bet: Kansas City Chiefs -6
Seattle (-3.5; 39.5) vs. New England
The Mike Macdonald defense was a force in Week 1. Yes, they drew well facing a rookie quarterback at home, which helped, but the offense put them in some terrible spots in the first half, and they more than held their own. If you take out the late touchdown and the two safeties the offense surrendered, this defense only gave up 9 points. Those 9 points came on three first-half field goal drives of 3 yards, -2 yards and 26 yards. Again, they were let down by the offense.
While the task does get slightly tougher in this spot on the road vs. the Patriots, they will know what to expect, which is a heavy dose of the run. Talks out of the Seahawks building all week have been how little of the defensive scheme they actually used in Week 1 and how much more that they can show.
I played the Seahawks -3 on Sunday. That number is now gone, but the Team Totals are another great way to attack this one.
NFL Week 2 Best Bet: New England Patriots TT u17.5
NFL Week 2 Best Bet Prop Plays
Isiah Pacheco o66.5 yards
I mentioned the Bengals’ lack of run stop, which sets us up for a great Over opportunity here. The Chiefs will establish the run in this spot, and if they have a lead in the second half, as expected, Pacheco will see the ball quite a bit. Let’s take the Over here.
Amon-Ra St. Brown 100+ Receiving Yards +140
It was not a banner week for St. Brown in Week 1, but the Bucs and an absolutely depleted secondary arrive for Sunday’s game. They are missing three cornerbacks and love to blitz, which is a bad combo against Jared Goff and Ben Johnson. Expect St. Brown to be active early and often as the Lions move the ball through the air.
JK Dobbins o56.5 Rushing Yards
While he got fewer touches last week than Gus Edwards, he did so much more with them. The plan in Los Angeles has been to work him into RB1, and I expect this to be the start of seeing those carries flip. Add that to a weak Panthers run D that just lost their best inside presence and this is an easy one to get to the window on.
Garrett Wilson u68.5 Receiving Yards
There is one weapon on the outside for the Jets: Garrett Wilson. There is one stopper at the CB position for the Titans, L’Jarius Sneed. They will be matched up all day, and that isn’t great for the Jets pass catcher. Let’s look to the Under here.
