NHL Best Props

Connor McDavid has willed the Oilers back into this series with eight points in his last two games (four in each game). He’s the first player to do this in the history of the Stanley Cup Final. We have a series now. Let’s get into some NHL Best Props.

Florida at Edmonton (-125, 5.5)

This postseason, we talked about how momentum doesn’t carry over and each game has its own unique story. Game 5 was indeed different from Game 4, but McDavid’s play might be the exception to the rule that momentum doesn’t carry over. Putting up back-to-back four-point performances in the Stanley Cup Final is unheard of. Yet the Oilers are only halfway there.

They’ve won two games to get themselves back in the series, but who will step up to force a Game 7, if there is one?

Stuart Skinner. How could we not talk about him? In the last two games, he has made timely save after save, boasting a .938 save percentage in Games 4 and 5 combined. He’s only allowed four goals on the last 65 shots that he’s faced. His team will need the same performance again.

The Panthers have tallied north of 30 shots in the last two games. I think they’ll be able to do that again. I anticipate Florida will find their footing again in this series. Skinner should continue to build on his confidence. He is now 9-0 in Games 4-7 in this year’s playoffs while skating to a .939% and a 1.56 goals against average in those games. He’s playing big in the biggest moments. There isn’t a line yet. My educated guess would be that his save prop is around 26.5, and I like the over on that number.

Florida will have a response for Edmonton, and while it may feel like the pressure has now shifted over to the Panthers, they still have a 3-2 lead in this series and a chance to win the Stanley Cup.

Desperation is not a feeling you can make up. You have to feel it. The Oilers have shown what they can do with desperation, now let’s see how the Panthers counter.
