NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Here are tonight’s NHL predictions and best bets.
Ottawa Senators at New Jersey Devils
Ottawa (+110) at New Jersey (-135) – Total 6.5 (Under, -135)
7 p.m. ET
The Senators come into Jersey fresh off a 3-2 shootout win over the Nashville Predators despite going through a stretch of 22:22 of game time without a shot on goal. Ottawa has won four of their first five games to start the season and given up two or fewer goals in all four wins. The one loss of the season came in the second half of a back-to-back and third game in four days when they lost at Detroit, 5-3, in the return of Dylan Larkin to the Red Wings lineup. The Wings have lost four of their first five games, including twice being shut out.
Tim Stutzle leads the Sens in scoring with four goals and eight points and has earned a point in all but one of Ottawa’s five games. His linemate Drake Batherson has three goals and four points to start the season, and both Stutzle and Batherson are on the top power play. Batherson has good numbers against New Jersey in his career with 16 points in 15 games. You can parlay Stutzle and Batherson (at DraftKings) for plus money.
More on Batherson. His 12 shots on goal this season are second only to captain Thomas Chabot’s 15. He has registered at least two shots on goal in all five games this season and in three of the past four head-to-head meetings with the Devils.
New Jersey’s Timo Meier has registered three shots on goal in all four games this season and in 10 of his last 12 games against Ottawa. Nico Hischier has had at least three shots on goal in two of his last three games but has put up three-plus shots on goal in 10 of his last 12 head-to-head contests against the Senators.
NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Stutzle/Batherson point parlay (+102) – 1 unit
Drake Batherson 2+ shots on goal (-135) – 1 unit
Timo Meier 3+ shots on goal (-120) – 1 unit
Nico Hischier 3+ shots on goal (+130) – 1 unit
Vegas Golden Knights at Minnesota Wild
Vegas (-110) at Minnesota (-110) – Total 6.5 (Under, -135)
8 p.m. ET
The Golden Knights have opened the season with five wins in their first six games, led by Jack Eichel’s three goals and twelve points. Eichel has seven goals and 21 points in 17 career games against Minnesota.
The Wild return home from a three-game road trip (1-1-1) that concluded with a 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers. All five of Minny’s games this year have gone Under the total (all games five goals or less).
Let’s talk about player props. Vegas rookie Trevor Connelly has two goals and two assists to start the season, with one of his goals coming on the power play as he has filled the spot of the injured Victor Olofsson. I split a half unit on his goal and assist prop.
Quinn Hughes is riding a five-game assist streak and has 11 assists in 17 career games against Vegas. Kirill Kaprizov has 11 career goals in 19 games against the Golden Knights. His six goals this season lead the Wild (three have come in the third period). Matt Boldy has seven goals in five games versus the Knights’ projected starting goalie, Carter Hart.
NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Trevor Connelly Over ½ assist (+220) – ¼ unit
Trevor Connelly anytime goal (+400) – ¼ unit
Eichel/Stone point parlay (-119) – 1 unit
Eichel point/Hughes point/Kaprizov point/Boldy point/Under 7.5 (+434) – ½ unit
Kirill Kaprizov anytime goal (+130) – ¼ unit
Kirill Kaprizov 3rd period goal (+440) – .15 units
Matt Boldy 3+ shots/Hertl 2+ shots (+127) – 1 unit
Matt Boldy anytime goal (+155) – ¼ unit
Matt Boldy 1st Minny goal (+500) – .10
