NHL Predictions and Best Bets:

Here are tonight’s NHL predictions and best bets.

Edmonton Oilers at New York Rangers

Edmonton Oilers (+105) at New York Rangers (-130) – Total 6.5 (Over, -115)

6 p.m. ET

The Oilers have been road warriors this season, winning all six of their road games. They will look to make it a perfect 7-0 tonight at MSG, where they have won four straight, and against a Rangers team they’ve beaten in four of the last five head-to-head meetings. The Blueshirts have been off for five full days since losing for the first time at home, getting doubled up by the LA Kings, 6-3. New York has lost three straight overall, giving up 18 goals in the process. Rangers’ goalie, Dylan Garand, has given up five or more goals in two of his last three starts.

Connor McDavid picked up an assist on Saturday, extending his assist streak to 15 games. He has nine assists in six road games this season and 2+ assists in four of the six games. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is coming off a two-goal game yesterday against the Islanders and has points in four of five since returning to the lineup. He has cashed his 2+ shots on goal prop in three straight and four of five. A couple of Rangers shots on goal props on my card for today include Pavel Dorofeyev, who is getting a bump to the top line. Dorofeyev has had 3+ shots on goal in each of his last three games versus Edmonton and four of his last five. Tye Kartye has recorded 2+ shots on goal in each of the last five Rangers games.

With Tristan Jarry playing yesterday against the Islanders and Devon Levi still on injured reserve, journeyman goalie Matt Tomkins gets his first NHL start in two years, when he played for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Edmonton Oilers Team Total Over 3.5 (+136) – 1 unit
Connor McDavid 2+ assists (+220) – ½ unit
Dorofeyev/Kartye/Nugent-Hopkins all 2+ shots (+273) – 1 unit
McDavid/Lafreniere 1 point each (-109) – 1.5 units

Ottawa Senators at Anaheim Ducks

Ottawa (-120) at Anaheim (+100) – Total 6.5 (-135)

8 p.m. ET

It’s back-to-back and three games in four days for the Sens when they visit Honda Center tonight to take on the Ducks. Ottawa is coming off a 5-1 win over the LA Kings on Saturday and have outscored the opposition 18-4 (scored 4+ in each, given up 1 goal in each) in the four wins, but they are 0-3 on the second half of back-to-backs, outscored 18-7, giving up 5+ goals in each of the three losses.  Ottawa has also given up four goals in all three of Jonas Jonansson’s starts this season.

Anaheim has given up 4+ goals in seven of their last eight games, and while it’s not all the fault of goalies Lukas Dostal and Ville Husso, Anaheim coach Joel Quenneville felt a change between the pipes is needed, so Laurent Brossoit (signed in the off-season) will make his first start of the season. He is 4-3-1 lifetime against the Sens with 3.23 goals against average. Ottawa’s Drake Batherson has goals in back-to-back games and has five goals (10 points) in nine games versus the Ducks. He also has two goals in six games versus Brossoit. Anaheim’s Jackson Lacombe is riding a five-game assist streak (8 total) and Beckett Sennecke has goals in three straight.

NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Over 6.5 (-140) – ½ unit
Anaheim Ducks Team Total Over 3.5 (+114) – ½ unit
Stutzle/Batherson point parlay (-112) – 1 unit
Drake Batherson anytime goal (+165) – ¼ unit
Jackson Lacombe assist (-115) – 1 unit
Bennett Sennecke anytime goal (+170) – ¼ unit
