NHL Predictions and Best Bets:

Here are tonight’s NHL predictions and best bets.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Washington Capitals

Pittsburgh (+135) at Washington (-160) – Total 6.5 (Over, -115)

7:30 p.m. ET

With Alexander Ovechkin announcing earlier in the week that this will be his final season, tonight marks the final chapter of Crosby versus Ovechkin as they face off only two more times, outside of the two teams meeting in this year’s playoffs. Sid has scored 35 goals and added 62 assists in his 77 games against Washington, while Ovi has 44 goals and 36 assists in his 83 games versus the Penguins. So, for some fun, a “pizza money” wager on both players to score tonight (+699). There is also good value to parlay the two to each get a point (+148). Former Capitals forward Hendrix Lapierre faces his former team for the first time, and he is getting a shot on the top line with Crosby and Rickard Rakell. I will be on both his goal and assist prop.

Though I like the Capitals to win this game and do so in regulation, I don’t have any player props standing out for me at the moment. Check my Twitter (X) feed throughout the day as I may add some plays.

NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Crosby/Ovechkin point parlay (+148) – 1 unit
Washington Capitals in regulation (+100) – 1 unit
Crosby/Ovechkin anytime goal parlay (+699) – .10 units
Hendrix Lapierre Over ½ assist (+300) – ¼ unit
Hendrix Lapierre anytime goal (+450) – ¼ unit

Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg Jets

Colorado Avalanche (-180) at Winnipeg Jets (+150) – Total 6.5 (-110)

7:30 p.m. ET

The Colorado Avalanche will look to make it a perfect three wins in three games to start the season when they travel to Winnipeg to play the Jets. The Avs had the number one offense last season (3.63 goals per game) and have picked up where they left off and then some to start the season, scoring 14 goals in two games. For those of you not good at math, that is an average of seven goals per game. Nine different Colorado players have found the back of the net in the two games led by Artturi Lehkonen’s three goals. In fact, Colorado’s top line of Nathan MacKinnon, Martin Necas and Lehkonen have combined for seven of the Avs 14 goals in 2026-27.

After opening the season with a 4-3 overtime loss to Boston on home ice, the Jets ventured out on the road, coming away with a pair of 3-2 wins over Detroit and Pittsburgh. Like the Avalanche, the Jets have received a bulk of their offense from two players on their top line. Kyle Connor (three) and Cole Perfetti (two) have accounted for five of the Jets’ nine goals. Connor’s 20 shots on goal lead the team, with Josh Morrissey (11) and Perfetti (10) a distant second and third. Connor has registered five shots on goal or more in all three games to start the season. Mark Scheifele, who centers the top line, is surprisingly still without a point through three games.

NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Colorado Avalanche in regulation (-120) – 2 units
Artturi Lehkonen anytime goal (+250) – ¼ unit
Artturi Lehkonen Over ½ assist (+220) – ¼ unit
Kyle Connor 4+ shots on goal (+125) – ½ unit

Edmonton Oilers at Anaheim Ducks

Edmonton Oilers (-134) at Anaheim Ducks (+112)  – Total 6.5 (Over, -140)

10 p.m. ET

The last time the Oilers came into Honda Center, it didn’t end well as the Ducks completed a first-round upset of Edmonton, winning the series in six games. It’s a similar story in Edmonton, where goaltending remains an issue. Devon Levi, who gave up seven goals in his season debut but still came away with a victory as the Oilers scored nine goals in a 9-7 win, followed that game up with a 3-1 win against the Seattle Kraken. Levi, who never got on track in Buffalo where he was drafted, appears to be getting his chance to be the number one goalie in Edmonton.

The Ducks have opened the season with a pair of impressive wins over Vegas and Florida and will look to make it three in a row with a home-ice win against the Oilers. The Ducks’ $18 million man, Leo Carlsson, leads the team in scoring with five points (one goal, four assists), and Cutter Gauthier is coming off a two-goal performance in Anaheim’s 3-2 win over Florida on Sunday. Gauthier has five goals and 10 points in his seven career games versus Edmonton, while Carlsson has eight points (two goals, six assists) in eight games against the Oilers.

Connor McDavid has treated the Ducks like a video game in his career with 62 points in 134 games and shooting at will, piling up 128 shots on goal (3.76 per game).

NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Cutter Gauthier anytime goal (+120) – ¼ unit
Cutter Gauthier  4+ SOG (-106) – ½ unit
Connor McDavid 4+ SOG (+118) – ½ unit

Gauthier/Carlsson each with 1+ pts (-135) – 2 units
Connor McDavid 2+ points (-113) – ½ unit
