Bank of America 400
From the dry heat of Las Vegas to the humidity of Charlotte, it will be a much different racing venue this week for the NASCAR Cup Series drivers, as the Chase reaches the second half. There are 10 Chase races and this is No. 6, the Bank of America 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This is not run on the Roval, as it will be on the main oval track, a change that came down in February.
So, this is a much more traditional stop at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC and probably benefits some drivers more than others. With Charlotte, Phoenix, Talladega, Martinsville, and Homestead-Miami left on the schedule, the drama is rising for those in the postseason.

2026 NASCAR Cup Series Chase Standings
All 16 drivers who qualified for the Cup Series Chase will be in the running to win the championship for the duration of the postseason. The point totals were reset based on a new format, ranging from 2,100 to 2,000 to start the Chase.
- Kyle Larson – 2318
- Denny Hamlin – 2278
- Christopher Bell – 2263
- Joey Logano – 2247
- Ryan Blaney – 2238
- Chase Briscoe – 2234
- Tyler Reddick – 2212
- Ty Gibbs – 2208
- Austin Cindric – 2190
- Bubba Wallace – 2181
- Carson Hocevar – 2160
- William Byron – 2158
- Chase Elliott – 2155
- Daniel Suarez – 2123
- Chris Buescher – 2122
- Ryan Preece – 2118
It was a mammoth performance for Briscoe in Las Vegas, as he swept everything, winning his second race of the season, plus Stage 1 and Stage 2. He’s still well off the pace, but he gave himself a chance with that big day in the desert. Through five playoff races, the winners are Bell, Larson (2), Logano, and Briscoe.
The race winners from the regular season were Reddick (5), Hamlin (4), Blaney (3), Chase Elliott (2), Shane van Gisbergen (2), Corey Heim (2), Gibbs (2), Logano (2), Suarez, Carson Hocevar, Briscoe, and Preece.
Briscoe had the big day, but it was another strong finish for Larson, who was second and widened his points lead over Hamlin out to 40. Hamlin had the fastest lap and the pole position, but finished 18th. Blaney had another top-five finish and Reddick was third for the third time in six races. Cindric, who was 13th, 10th, and 11th in the first three Chase races, has finished second and fourth the last two weeks.
Bank of America 400 Winners
This race had been held on the Roval, the combination road and oval course, since 2018, but has moved back to the traditional 1.5-mile oval for this year. As a result, it might be better to look at drivers who have won the Coca-Cola 600 in recent years, since this race is now a lot more like that one, just with fewer laps and miles.
Suarez actually won this race back in May. Ross Chastain won it last year. Prior to that, we had more usual suspects, with Bell, Blaney, Hamlin, and Larson. Suarez did win a rain-shortened event, as the race only went 373 miles.
If we do lump the Roval in with the other race, we have had 10 different race winners here in the last 10 races. Byron has the most points in that span, but is not one of the 10 winners. He has four top-five finishes and six top-10 finishes, while Hamlin has five top-fives and six top-10s. Bell has a win and three top-fives in just eight starts at Charlotte. Reddick, who also has not won this race, has the highest average finish among active drivers at 9.5 over his eight starts.
