Tuley’s Takes Today: Wednesday recaps, Thursday best bets in NCAA, NHL (3/31)

119

Wednesday was a long day as we were up early in the Tuley’s Takes home office as we were the first to Tweet out the February sports betting figures for Nevada.
We’re feeling 100 percent during the day, but felt better when we won our Best Bet on the Heat %plussign% 4.5 at Celtics. This was actually an anti-swagger play against the Celtics, who had a six-game winning streak snapped on Monday night in Toronto, that we also gave out in our regular weekly column in Point Spread Weekly. The Heat were the right side plus the points the whole game and ended up pulling the outright upset. That got us back on the winning track and improved our record to 31-14-1 ATS (68.9 percent) with our top play of the day over the past 46 days.

Best bets for every March Madness game

We also scored on our top NHL First-Period Over play on the Kings-Oilers to make it a really good day! Both teams scored early to put us Over 1.5 with 12:36 to spare, and then the Oilers scored again with less than 2 minutes left in the opening frame to cash for those that had to go Over 2 goals.
Let’s do our regular duty of recapping the rest of Wednesday’s betting action across the major team sports and look for more winners on Thursday, plus make it official with our Final Four plays for Saturday as we feel this is the time to lock in our bets.

Wednesday’s recaps

NBA: Faves went 10-1 SU but split 5-5-1 ATS. The lone upset was by Heat (%plussign% 5 in 106-98 win at Celtics). The Pacers (%plussign% 10 in 125-118 loss vs. the Nuggets), Spurs (%plussign% 5 in 112-111 loss vs. Grizzlies), Blazers (%plussign% 15 in 117-107 loss vs. Pelicans) and Warriors (%plussign% 5 in 107-103 vs. Suns) covered in losses. The Kings (-3) were the push in their 121-118 win at the Rockets). Overs went 6-5.

NHL: Faves went 4-2 with upsets by the Coyotes (%plussign% 140 in 5-2 win vs. Sharks) and the Blues (-105 in 4-3 win at Canucks). The Golden Knights were the lone fave to cover the -1.5 puck line in their 3-0 win at the Kraken. Overs also went 4-2.

Thursday’s Takes

Xavier %plussign% 4.5 vs. Texas A&M: Both these teams were on the NCAA tournament bubble and just missed making the field of 68. They both overcame the letdown of settling for the NIT and find themselves in tonight’s championship game. No matter how I handicap this game, I have it at pick-’em or Xavier -1, so we’ll gladly take the points.

Devils-Bruins First-Period Over 1.5 (-155 BetMGM): The Devils let us down twice recently, but we’re relying on the overall body of work at 43-23 (65.2 percent) on the season and still 18-6 in their last 24 games. As I mentioned in Point Spread Weekly, the other games to include for parlay players would be the Blackhawks-Panthers (the latter is on 7-game 1P Over run and 29-7 in last 36 games while also being the No. 1 team in 1P Overs at 47-19, so I nearly made this my top play) and/or Penguins-Wild (Wild 15-5 in last 20 and ranking No. 2 overall at 44-21).

Saturday
North Carolina %plussign% 4.5 vs. Duke:
This is Duke -4 at the majority of books, but there are a few %plussign% 4.5s available (BetMGM and WynnBET), so I would recommend to shop around and lock in the Tar Heels at 4.5 if you can as I’ve written in Point Spread Weekly and the Best Bets file at VSiN.com that this is my preferred side in the Final Four..

Villanova %plussign% 4.5 vs. Kansas: This is more solid at 4.5 (though WynnBET is dealing %plussign% 5 if you’re in one of their states), so grab that if you can but at least the hook at 4.5 as some books are down to 4.

Good luck today (and every day!).
