French Open best bets for Friday, June 7th
We’re nearing the end of the second major of this exciting 2024 tennis season, as the top ATP and WTA players in the world are in Paris for the 2024 French Open. The action at Roland Garros should be stellar over the next few days, so now isn’t the time to stop watching. The women already have their final set, as Jasmine Paolini will take on Iga Swiatek. However, we have two men’s semifinals on the schedule for Friday, June 7th, when Carlos Alcaraz will take on Jannik Sinner and Casper Ruud will face Alexander Zverev. Keep reading for some of my favorite plays for the day.
I’m going to quickly hit on some of my favorite picks below, but I usually have a lot more on the Pro Picks page. I have had a lot of success betting on Challenger events this season, and you can find my picks for those on that page. I also occasionally add some picks throughout the day, as schedules can get wonky with the international nature of the sport. I also like to see how odds are moving. That said, keep checking the page throughout the day.

2024 Record: 356-365 (+31.77 units)
Carlos Alcaraz vs. Jannik Sinner – 8:30 am ET

I already have a 1.5-unit play on Sinner to win the French Open, so I’m not trying to add anything here. However, I do like Sinner to cover an alternate 4.5-game spread against Alcaraz. I’m not sure the standard 2.5-game spread will do much in a match like this, so I think it’s worth paying up a bit for a little wiggle room. But overall, I just don’t think you can pass on backing the best player in the world as an underdog. Alcaraz is supposed to be the much better clay-court player, but I’m not sure we have seen that with our own eyes. I know Alcaraz has had a lot of clay-court success in Masters 1000 events, but Sinner played at a very high level on clay early in the clay-court season. And he has just been a lot sharper than Alcaraz for the better part of a year now. Make sure you check out my Alcaraz vs. Sinner preview for a little more on the on-court matchup.
Lean: Sinner +4.5 Games (-167)
Casper Ruud vs. Alexander Zverev – 11:30 am ET

I also have a future on Ruud to win this tournament, so I won’t be jumping on a side in this match. However, I really like Ruud if you’re looking to get in on this one. Ruud has proven himself to be one of the best clay-court players in the world, and Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal allowed the Norwegian to rest up in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Zverev is coming off three consecutive grueling matches. So, I think fatigue could be a factor here, but I also just like Ruud’s baseline game to give Zverev some trouble. I got into that more in my Ruud vs. Zverev preview. But keep an eye on the Ruud forehand versus the Zverev forehand. Ruud has one of the best forehands on the planet, while Zverev’s is insanely leaky.
Lean: Ruud ML (+110)
