Tennis best bets for ATP Shanghai – Tuesday, October 10

There isn’t much time left in the 2023 tennis season, but the Asian swing brings us some really big tournaments. This week, the men are in action for a 1000-level event, which is the biggest a tournament can be outside of the four Grand Slams. I’ll be focusing on Shanghai with my tennis best bets for the week. I’m coming off a profitable first few days with this event, so I’m hoping to keep things rolling moving forward. Keep reading for my plays for Tuesday, October 10 (with some starting on Monday, October 9 in the United States).

Sebastian Korda vs. Francisco Cerundolo

Korda made a run to the finals in Astana last week, losing a three-set match to Adrian Mannarino in that one. The American is now 8-2 in his last 10 matches, so the oddsmakers clearly like his form right now. But Cerundolo is a better player than Korda overall. And it’s not like he’s playing all that poorly lately. The Argentinean has won four matches in a row and five of his last six. Cerundolo will also have the biggest weapon on the court, with his forehand being one of the most dangerous ones on tour. With that in mind, I love that we can get Cerundolo at a favorable price to win at least a set. And I’m also sprinkling the moneyline here, as I think the wrong player is favored.

Bet: Cerundolo +1.5 Sets (-145 – 2 units) & Cerundolo ML (+200 – 0.5 units)

Ben Shelton vs. Jannik Sinner

Sinner won his third title of the year in last week’s China Open. It was an impressive run for the Italian, who earned wins over Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev in that event. However, Sinner has looked a little lethargic since arriving in Shanghai. And I think he’s due for a loss soon. I’m just not sure Sinner has what it takes physically or emotionally to back up the title last week, and he’s now facing an opponent that is an absolute bundle of energy. Shelton is going to come out pumped up and ready to go in this match, and his firepower will make it hard for Sinner to sleepwalk through this one. I’m not confident enough to play the American to win this match outright, but I do like him to win at least one set. His ability to serve should put him in at least one tiebreaker situation, which should give him a good shot at this. Sinner is also somewhat unreliable as a server still, so he could give away a set in the blink of an eye. Shelton has made a lot of improvements as a returner.

Bet: Shelton +1.5 Sets (-105 – 2 units)

2023 Overall Record: 292-267 (+45.61 units)
