Las Vegas Aces (-8) vs Indiana Fever, O/U 158.5
Game 5: It doesn’t have quite the dramatic effect that saying “Game 7” does, but the intensity is the same, nonetheless. The Las Vegas Aces and Indiana Fever will do battle for one last time this season to determine who will take on the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals. From the Aces’ standpoint, they have to be licking their chops because the one team that presumably stood in their way as legitimate favorites is now at home. Not to discredit Phoenix, but I don’t think anyone would argue it’s more favorable to play Phoenix than Minnesota in the best-of-seven series. The Fever, meanwhile, can play free with nothing to lose. I’m not sure anyone outside that locker room gave them much of a chance to be in this position, so they can let it all out and be happy with the results (relatively). TSI projects Las Vegas -5.5 with a total of 160 in this game, which is lined with Vegas as an 8-point favorite and an O/U of 158.5. Given the issues Indiana has caused Vegas this season, I think I’d take the 8 points with the underdog in a closeout game where possessions theoretically matter more and will likely be lessened. I’d want to lean Under, although the line is shaded that way, so there’s no value to play it. I think Vegas wins, but Indiana covers the number.
