1/ST BET Horse Racing Predictions:

We are excited to announce a renewed partnership with the fine folks and handicappers at 1/ST BET. Jeremy Plonk and Jeff Siegel will be sharing their expertise Wednesday-Sunday on a weekly basis to pass along some ponies that they like for races at various tracks around the country.

For this Thursday, September 12 article, we’ve got “Plonk’s Picks” for racing at Churchill Downs.

Churchill Downs | Race 3 | 5:58 pm ET

#1 Mo Hope (6-1 morning line odds)

Churchill Downs opens its brief September meeting on Thursday, and trainer Paul McGee has had a penchant for success aiming horses at these races. Over the past three Septembers, he’s had 31% winners from 16 starters and done very well with horses off extended layoffs in those races. Mo Hope has been away since June and gets a jockey change and an equipment change while switching up the distance to 1 mile for the first time. Win bet.

Churchill Downs | Race 7 | 7:54 pm ET

#3 Gulfstream Way (5-1 morning line odds)

Determined to win a three-way photo for the runner-up spot last time out against a strong rival at Ellis Park, a race more significant since it was his first start since October. This six-year-old has run very well at Churchill Downs, a close second here last September behind Bango, one of the top local sprinters in track history. Should love the additional distance to 7-1/2 furlongs on Thursday. Win bet.
