Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for August 16. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Our hosts and analysts will be all over the MLB, which is why it pays to be a VSiN Pro subscriber.

Sunday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Sunday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Eury Perez Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-109) vs. Reds
Marlins at Reds – 1:40 pm ET
Perez has had at least seven strikeouts in two consecutive starts, and he has also done so in five of his last eight. Now, the talented righty gets to ply his trade against a Reds team that has a league-high strikeout rate (25.4%) against right-handed pitching. I’m not going to attack this one with alternates, as the number is already a little high. But sign me up for seven Ks.
Jake Cronenworth Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+110) vs. Guardians
Padres at Guardians – 1:40 pm ET
Cronenworth has had at least two HRR in 10 of his last 20 meetings with right-handed starters, and he’s averaging 1.9 HRR per game in that span. On top of that, the lefty slugger has a strong matchup tonight. Tanner Bibee has been struggling a bit lately, and Cronenworth is 2 for 4 against the righty in his career.
Cody Bradford Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+116) vs. Athletics
Rangers at Athletics – 4:05 pm ET
There’s a chance Bradford gets hit around by this Athletics lineup, but he could also do some decent work with his swing-and-miss stuff. While he only had one strikeout against the Angels last game, he did have five Ks against the Giants the outing before. And this A’s team has a strikeout rate of 24.9% against righties, making it a strong matchup for him. I think he’ll take advantage of it, plus I like the plus-money odds.
Additional Picks
Corbin Carroll Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-137) vs. Braves
Drew Anderson Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+118 – 1.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 6+ (+279 – 0.5 units) vs. Tigers
Noah Cameron Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-134) vs. Angels
Logan Henderson Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+118) vs. Dodgers
Hunter Brown Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-109) vs. Mariners
