Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for August 25. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Tuesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Tuesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Ethan Pecko Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+124) vs. Yankees
Astros at Yankees – 7:05 pm ET
Pecko had only four strikeouts in his first outing, but I like him to reach the five-K mark tonight. The righty should be a little more comfortable than he was last time out, and the Yankees have a strikeout rate of 24.9% against righties this season. Of course, pitching in the Bronx against this offense will likely mean some nerves. But Pecko struck out over a batter per inning in the minors, so I like him to take advantage of a chase-heavy New York lineup.
Jacob deGrom Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+104) vs. White Sox
Rangers at White Sox – 7:40 pm ET
DeGrom only had six strikeouts against the White Sox on July 20, but I think he’ll have seven this evening. Rate Field is a pitcher-friendly park, which should allow deGrom to find a nice groove. This matchup is also perfect. The White Sox have a strikeout rate of 23.8% and whiff percentage of 27.7%, meaning they’re one of the worst teams in baseball when it comes to making contact.
Walbert Urena Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+128) vs. Guardians
Guardians at Angels – 9:38 pm ET
This feels a little like a trap, but I’m going for it. Urena comes into this start having had at least five strikeouts in 12 of his last 15 outings, and he has also had at least seven in two of his last four trips to the mound. Also, while the Guardians haven’t been strikeout-prone lately, they did start the season as a pretty high-whiff team against righties. That said, I think Urena can have some success if he comes out ready to go.
