Sunday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Sunday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Emmet Sheehan Over 15.5 Outs Recorded (-126) vs. Mets
Dodgers at Mets – 1:40 pm ET
Sheehan has pitched 5.1 innings in back-to-back outings. The righty now faces a Mets offense with a wRC+ of just 96 when facing right-handed pitching, so this is a really strong matchup for him. Of course, Sheehan has been worse on the road this season, so that should be noted. However, this is a pitcher-friendly ball park and a bad lineup. I’ll take my chances.
Walker Buehler Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-160 – 1.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 5+ (+134 – 0.5 units) vs. Marlins
Padres at Marlins – 1:40 pm ET
This is a risky set of plays, as the bigger one is juiced pretty heavily. However, the Marlins have been struggling to make contact lately. In the last 10 games in which Miami has faced right-handed pitching, the team has a strikeout rate of 25.4% and whiff percentage of 27.2%. This is also a pitcher-friendly ball park, so Buehler should work somewhat deep into this game. If he does, I like him to put up a decent strikeout number.
Kyle Freeland Over 15.5 Outs Recorded (-116) vs. Brewers
Rockies at Brewers – 2:10 pm ET
Freeland has recorded at least 17 outs in five of his last seven starts, and he has also done so in three of his last four road starts. Pitching outside of Coors Field, the lefty should be able to do a good job of navigating this Brewers lineup. Milwaukee has a wRC+ of only 95 against lefties this season. So, while this is also a hitter-friendly park, I like Freeland to do some solid work today.
