Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for September 2. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Patrick Sandoval Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+110) vs. Mariners
Mariners at Red Sox – 4:10 pm ET
Sandoval has had at least six strikeouts in three consecutive starts, and he now gets to face a Mariners team with a strikeout rate of 24.6% against lefties. This is a strong matchup for Sandoval, who also happens to be playing a team that struggles mightily against sliders, which make up 29% of the southpaw’s pitch profile.
Rafael Devers Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-117) vs. Pirates
Giants at Pirates – 6:40 pm ET
Devers has gone Over 1.5 HRR in nine consecutive games, and he has also done so in 15 of his last 18 games. On top of that, Devers is averaging 3.2 HRR per game over the last 18 games, and he’s averaging 3.1 HRR per game when facing righties in hitter-friendly ball parks in that span. With that in mind, it’s hard not to like Devers at only -117 in a matchup with Jared Jones, who carries a disappointing 4.83 ERA into this game.
Davis Martin Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+118) vs. Astros
White Sox at Astros – 8:10 pm ET
Martin hasn’t pitched in an MLB game since August 13, so I believe people have doubts regarding his leash tonight. However, the righty pitched 5.0 innings in an August 27 start in the minors, so he has the ability to throw a normal amount of pitches tonight. Martin also happened to strike out five batters in that game, I think there’s a decent chance he gets to four Ks tonight. Earlier in the season, Martin was a strikeout machine, and it’s clear he has lost something since then. But this is a low enough total that I’m willing to attack it at plus-money odds. The Astros have a strikeout rate of 22.0% against righties, so they’re a below-average team when it comes to plate discipline.
Additional Picks

Matt Olson Over 1.5 Total Bases (+118) vs. Nationals
Jackson Holliday Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105) vs. Rockies
Trevor Larnach Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+128) vs. Tigers
