Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Friday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Friday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. That’s also where you’ll find any late adds to my card.
Matt Olson Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-125) vs. Phillies
Phillies at Braves – 7:15 pm ET
Olson has been scorching hot for the Braves lately. In fact, his season-long numbers are quite ridiculous already, as he’s batting .282 with seven homers and 22 RBIs. That puts him on pace for 44 homers and 137 RBIs on the season. Well, I’m rolling with Olson to go Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBIs tonight. Olson has had at least two HRR in 10 of the last 11 games, and he’s averaging 2.8 HRR per game on the season. Also, when you break that down to matchups against right-handed pitchers, that number goes up to 3.0 HRR per game. Well, the Phillies are sending righty Andrew Painter to the mound tonight. That said, I like Olson to do some damage, even if he is 0 for 2 against Painter in their brief head-to-head history.
Mike Trout Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-135) vs. Royals
Angels at Royals – 7:40 pm ET
This is a game in which two lefty starters will be going at it, so I looked into the numbers to see if I can find a righty bat to back. Well, what do you know? One of the options is one of the best hitters of all time. Trout’s HRR number is up at 2.5 in some spots, but you can go Over 1.5 at -135 or -140. Well, I’m jumping all over that tonight. Trout is averaging 2.5 HRR per game on the season, and he has gone Over 1.5 HRR in six of his seven games against left-handed starters. In those games, Trout is averaging 3.4 HRR per game, so it really hasn’t even been close.
Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (-120) vs. Cubs
Cubs at Dodgers – 10:15 pm ET
I normally prefer going Over 1.5 HRR instead of playing total bases, but that isn’t an option with Ohtani tonight. His HRR total is up at 2.5 this evening, and I’d rather take my chances with an extra-base hit — or just two hits. Ohtani does his best work against right-handed pitching, and he has done damage in the matchup with Jameson Taillon before. In 10 career at-bats against the righty, Ohtani has a double and two homers. Well, anything like that and we’ll be looking at cashing our final play of the night. However, the three plays I have written up aren’t my only picks of the evening. I have 10 other picks below that match the system I have been using for MLB.
