Here are our favorite NBA prop bets for Friday, April 14:
Chicago Bulls at Miami Heat (-5.5, 208.5)
This season, Coby White played very well against the Heat. In three meetings with Miami, White averaged 14.7 points per game. That’s well over his season average of 9.7 points per game, and there really isn’t much standing in the way of him having at least 10 points tonight.
Chicago does have a lot of guards in its rotation, but the team has been finding minutes for all of them. Even in the Play-In meeting with the Toronto Raptors, White ended up playing 25 minutes. He also scored nine points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field in that one, so he certainly wasn’t afraid of the moment.
Against the Heat, let’s just hope for a little more volume than efficiency out of the 23-year-old. If he’s aggressive in looking for his shot, he should clear this number rather easily. The Heat gave up more 3s per game than all but two teams during the regular season, and their defense looked broken against the Hawks. White is very dangerous from behind the 3-point line, so he should take advantage.
Bet: White Over 9.5 Points (+100)
Oklahoma City Thunder at Minnesota Timberwolves (-5.5, 228.5)
With the Timberwolves likely getting Rudy Gobert back tonight, the team will have a plus-sized lineup against a Thunder squad that plays very small. One of the ways Minnesota might look to combat that is by leaving Luguentz Dort open, which has been a popular strategy amongst coaches in recent years. In fact, the New Orleans Pelicans just tried it, and Dort torched them to the tune of 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 shooting from deep.
Dort isn’t a good enough shooter to turn in an efficient performance like that regularly, but he’s plenty capable of burying a few shots from deep. He’s also good at attacking closeouts and getting himself to the basket. And considering the amount of opportunities he should have in this game, this total feels a bit low.
Dort has also proven to be a big-game player in the past. In his rookie year, he had 30 points in a Game 7 loss to the Houston Rockets, stepping up big when the Thunder needed him. And he was magnificent in the Play-In game the other night.
Bet: Dort Over 14.5 Points (-115)
