Here are our favorite NBA prop bets for Thursday, March 30 (odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook):
Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks (-2.5, 236.5)
Malcolm Brogdon is averaging 3.7 assists per game for the Celtics this season, but his total for tonight is only 2.5. Boston’s backcourt situation can be a bit frustrating, as Marcus Smart and Derrick White are always going to get their own playmaking opportunities. But this number feels a little low for a game with a total of 236.5.
Brogdon is averaging 3.4 assists per game in the month of March, which is down from his seasonal average but still higher than the total tonight. The 30-year-old also happened to have a nine-assist game against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, which just shows you how often he has the ball in his hands. Dishing out that many dimes doesn’t happen by accident.
Brogdon also happened to have four assists in a meeting with his former team back on February 14th, and there’s just no reason to believe he won’t do it again here. It’s also hard not to like that Brogdon averages 7.4 potential assists per game. This is a player that is constantly making the right play, and he just needs some of his teammates to knock down some good looks tonight.
Bet: Brogdon Over 2.5 Assists (-145)
New Orleans Pelicans at Denver Nuggets (-5.5, 226.5)
Brandon Ingram has scored at least 27 points in 10 of his last 20 games, and he has also done so in four of his last five. Now, Ingram gets to face a Nuggets team that is just 21st in the NBA in defensive rating over the last 10 games.
With Ingram in a groove offensively, we’re turning to him to go over 26.5 points. This matchup should be a good one for the 6-foot-8 forward, as there are a bunch of huntable defenders for the Pelicans to attack. Denver is going to do everything it can to get Aaron Gordon on Ingram, but New Orleans will run screens as often as possible in order to give its star a shot at attacking either Michael Porter Jr. or Nikola Jokic (questionable). Neither one of those guys has a chance of stopping Ingram — and the same goes for Jamal Murray, so the Pelicans could get Herbert Jones involved as a screener.
It’s also just important to look at Ingram’s volume heading into this game. He has taken at least 20 shots in five of his last seven games, and he’s also 12th in the NBA in usage rate since the start of March. If he’s that involved in the offense tonight, it’s almost going to be difficult for him not to hit the over.
Bet: Ingram Over 26.5 Points (-110)
