NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Here are tonight’s NHL predictions and best bets.
Seattle Kraken at Detroit Red Wings
Seattle Kraken (+120) at Detroit Red Wings (-145) – Total 6 (Over, -115)
7 p.m. ET
The numbers don’t lie. These two teams have met 10 times since the Seattle Kraken came into the league, and all 10 games have had a combined six goals or more. Seven of the 10 head-to-head meetings have a combined seven goals or more. Five of the ten meetings have gone past regulation. The Wings’ big three up front, Dylan Larkin (nine points/10 games), Lucas Raymond (nine points/nine games), and Alex DeBrincat (10 points/11 games), have all found success against the Kraken. Defenseman Moritz Seider has nine assists in 10 games against the Kraken. Emmitt Finnie has two goals on just two shots against Seattle netminder Joey Daccord.
Seattle’s Jordan Eberle is on a four-game points streak (two goals, two assists) and has 17 goals in 33 games against the Wings. Shane Wright scored a goal in each of the Kraken’s past two games. He has two goals on three shots (four games) versus Detroit. Bobby McMann is tied for the team shots on goal lead (15) and has had three shots on goal or more in all four games to start the season. Finally, give me a Seattle power play goal tonight. Detroit’s penalty kill has struggled to start the season, giving up five goals on just 13 times shorthanded. The Kraken have scored a power play goal in three of their four games to start the season. Chandler Stephenson has nine goals on 32 shots (28%) when facing Detroit goalie John Gibson.
NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Seattle/Detroit Over 6 (-110) – 2 units
Kraken/Wings/Penguins/Blue Jackets all to score 2+ goals (+111) – 1 unit
Seattle Kraken Over ½ Power Play Goal (-115) – ¼ unit
Bobby McMann Over 2.5 shots on goal (+115) – 1 unit
Bobby McMann Over ½ point (+120) – ¼ point
Chandler Stephenson anytime goal (+400) – ¼ unit
Shane Wright anytime goal (+320) – ¼ unit
Emmitt Finnie anytime goal (+400) – ¼ unit
Arvidsson point/Larkin point/Raymond point/Seider assist (+272) – 1/2 unit
New York Rangers at Washington Capitals
New York Rangers (+122) at Washington Capitals (-134) – Total 5.5 (Over, -122)
7 p.m. ET
After losing to the Bruins on opening night, the Rangers have rattled off four consecutive wins, outscoring their opponents 16-5. The Capitals have won two of their first three games, scoring five goals in each. Tonight’s goaltending matchup features two of the best: Igor Shesterkin for the Rangers and Logan Thompson for the Caps. New York’s Mika Zibanejad has four goals in five games (11 shots) against Washington goalie Logan Thompson. Adam Fox is riding a four-game assist streak (five) and Alexis Lafreniere has five points (one goal, four assists) in his last two games. Will Cuylle has four goals in his last two games against Washington, including two goals on five shots versus Logan Thompson.
For the Capitals, Jordan Kyrou has just one assist to start the season, but this could be a get right spot for Kyrou, who has five goals in seven games versus Igor Shesterkin and has recorded at least three shots on goal in five of those seven games. Ryan Leonard has cashed his shots on goal prop (Over 1.5) in 13 straight, 16 of 17, and in all four head-to-head meetings with the Rangers.
NHL Predictions and Best Bets:
Ryan Leonard 2+ shots on goal (-130) – 2 units
Jordan Kyrou 2+/Leonard 2+ SOG (+150) – 1 unit
Jordan Kyrou anytime (+220) – ¼ unit
Mika Zibanejad anytime goal (+132) – ¼ unit
Adam Fox Over ½ assist (-115) – ½ unit
Will Cuylle anytime goal (+380) – ¼ unit
Pittsburgh Penguins at Columbus Blue Jackets
Pittsburgh Penguins (-102) at Columbus Blue Jackets (-118) – Total 6.5 (Over, -120)
7 p.m. ET
Goals and lots of them are the story when these two teams face off against each other. Each of the last eight meetings has had a combined seven goals or more, and the first period Over 1.5 has cashed in six of the last eight. The two have also gone past regulation in four straight and six of the last eight.
On to the player props. The Penguins’ Ben Kindel is one of six players on the team tied for second in scoring with four points, and at today’s game day practice, Kindell was elevated to the top power play unit. Declan Carlile, who signed with the Penguins in the summer after playing last season in Tampa, is off to a strong start with two goals and two assists and is playing on the top pair with Erik Karlsson.
