⚽ The Other Games Matter More
The USA-Turkey match is today’s headliner because, well, it’s the USA.
It also is the least meaningful match on World Cup Day 15.
The Americans have already clinched first place in Group D. Turkey has already been eliminated.
The real drama is everywhere else.
Today’s menu (Circa odds):
Group E (4 p.m. ET)
Curaçao (+1850) vs. Ivory Coast (-690) (Draw +755)
Ecuador (+275) vs. Germany (-115) (Draw +310)
Motivation: Germany (6 points) has already clinched first. Ivory Coast (3) advances with a win or draw. Ecuador (1) and Curaçao (1) need victories.
Nigel Seeley, safely back in the UK until the quarterfinals, likes the Total in Germany-Ecuador.
“When Under 2.5 goals is priced up at plus money for a game involving one of the most talked about defenses pre-tournament and a side who, for now, know it is job done, I must get involved.”

Group F (7 p.m. ET)
Japan (-115) vs. Sweden (+350) (Draw +250)
Tunisia (+2500) vs. Netherlands (-1000) (Draw +950)
Motivation: Netherlands (4 points) and Japan (4) are all but through. Sweden (3) could still advance with a loss but needs to protect its goal difference. Tunisia (1) is out.
Alex Blowers expects the Dutch to finish the job.
“Back the Netherlands to run riot and heap more misery on a Tunisia side who can’t wait to board their flight home.”

Group D (10 p.m. ET)
Turkey (+252) vs. USA (-107) (Draw +315)
Paraguay (+182) vs. Australia (+308) (Draw +125)
Motivation: USA (6 points) is through as Group D champion. Turkey (0) is out. Australia (3) and Paraguay (3) both have a path to advance — which helps explain why the draw is the betting favorite.
Luke DiVasta still sees value in the USA-Turkey match.
“I believe this match will be open, free-flowing, and could get a little wild offensively. Turkey purely has pride to play for — they cannot go scoreless at this World Cup.”

Wednesday Postscript:
Qualified:
Group A: Mexico, South Africa
Group B: Switzerland, Canada
Group C: Brazil, Morocco
Still alive: South Korea, Bosnia and Scotland are on the bubble for the eight third-place openings.

🏈 Everyone Loves The Bengals
A few days ago I mentioned that VSiN’s experts weren’t exactly optimistic about my Bears in the new NFL Betting Guide.
The Bengals received the opposite treatment.
Cincinnati finished 6-12 last season (including 1-8 without Joe Burrow), but a healthy Burrow, major defensive upgrades and questions surrounding Baltimore have made the Bengals one of the guide’s favorite futures plays.
Some of the recommendations:
• Steve Makinen: Bengals Over 9.5 Wins
• Matt Youmans: Bengals to Win the AFC North
• Stormy Buonantony: Bengals AFC North and Over
• Jonathan Von Tobel: Bengals Over 10.5 Wins
