🏈 College Football Sunday

We’re just a week away from an NFL Sunday, but there is still football to bet.

Today’s menu:

4 ET: Washington State (+23) at Washington — NBC

7:30 ET: Louisville (+6.5) vs. Ole Miss in Nashville — ABC

7:30 ET: Wisconsin (+20.5) vs. Notre Dame in Green Bay — NBC

When last we saw Notre Dame, they were pouting about not making the playoffs and declining a bowl invitation.

With high expectations this season in South Bend, Adam Burke previewed the Irish in our College Football Betting Guide:

“As long as the Irish avoid cluster injuries, the goal of a perfect season is very attainable, and that includes the CFP as well.”

The reason for optimism starts with something we’ve been talking about all week: stability.

Notre Dame returns 17 starters, and by now you know how much Steve Makinen values continuity in Week 1.

“The Irish are loaded on both sides of the ball with 17 starters back, and we know that teams with 17+ total returning starters are 108-89 SU and 108-87 ATS (55.4%) in the first four weeks of the CFB season versus teams returning 16 or fewer since 2021.”

⚾ Greg’s Sunday MLB Best Bets

Greg Peterson is looking to the total in Yankees-Padres (4:10 ET).

Gerrit Cole is starting to look more like his old self, posting a 3.29 ERA with 9.5 strikeouts and just 1.9 walks per nine innings. But he’ll face a Padres lineup that ranks fourth in MLB in scoring since the All-Star Break at more than 4.8 runs per game.

On the other side, Greg sees some regression potential for Michael King. His 3.11 ERA comes with a 4.19 FIP, 7.8 strikeouts and 3.5 walks per nine innings.

Greg’s Best Bet: Yankees-Padres Over 7

Greg’s Handicapped Total: 7.7
