An action-filled Sunday ended with a doink.
The Chiefs (-4.5) beat the Chargers 19-17 when Matthew Wright’s 31-yard field goal carromed off the left upright and snuck over the cross bar on the last play of the game.
KC is now 12-1 straight up, but is draining backers with a 4-8-1 ATS record. Overall on Sunday, favorites went 8-3 SU, but underdogs led 7-4 ATS. >>Dave Tuley‘s ATS Report.
Among those dogs: The Panthers (+14) put a scare into the Eagles and the Circa Sports bettor who put $3.1 million on the Philly moneyline to win $440,000. But Carolina WR Xavier Legette dropped a potentially game-winning TD with under a minute left and Philly prevailed 22-16.
Hold your nose?
This MNF matchup probably seemed like a pretty good idea to NFL schedule-makers back in May.
Instead, Zach Cohen previews the 4-8 Bengals vs. the 5-7 Cowboys (8:15, ESPN):
For as bad as Cincinnati’s defense has been this season, one would think the unit is good enough to slow down a Cooper Rush-led offense. Meanwhile, Joe Burrow and the league’s seventh-best EPA per play offense (0.099) will be working against a Dallas defense that is 28th in the league in EPA per play allowed (0.065).
Dave “Dog or Pass Tuley: I would think that all the people burned by the Bengals this year, both ATS and in Survivor pools, would have stopped betting them by now, so I’ll take the home dog here, though we have to plug our nose with this one.

First impressions of CFP first round
With the 12-team CFP bracket set, Adam Burke updates his power ratings and looks for value.
I would expect my numbers to be pretty close on marquee games like this and that is exactly what we have. Clemson +11 is my favorite bet of the first round as of now. I may end up on Tennessee north of a TD as well, as the Volunteers should win the battle in the trenches in that game. But, we’re not talking about any grand power ratings value as justification for a bet.
Adam and Jonathan Von Tobel, along with Grace Remington, reacted to the bracket on the CFP Betting Show right after the selection committee’s announcement. >>Watch the show.
