WNBA Picks

We cashed our only ticket of Friday night with the Sparks/Mystics Over, so we’ll now look to build on that as the WNBA prepares to take a break before the regular season ends and the playoffs begin. Saturday has just two games: the New York Liberty host the Chicago Sky, and the Phoenix Mercury host the Toronto Tempo. Here are the TSI projections for Saturday, August 29th.

New York Liberty (-8.5) vs Chicago Sky, O/U 179.5

New York has been five points below their season home average over their last three home games, although they did go 2-1 in that stretch. Chicago has lost two straight and has been six points below their season road average over the last four road games and will likely be without Dijonai Carrington and Natasha Cloud today. TSI projects New York -15 with a total of 174, and when you factor in the Sky injuries, I’m not entirely sure why the line is so low, so I’ll roll the dice with New York here even though they let us down badly earlier this week. Chicago seems like they’ve checked out on the season, even losing to Connecticut last game.

Bet: Liberty -8.5 (Play to -10)

Phoenix Mercury (-8.5) vs Toronto Tempo, O/U 176.5

This is a game between two teams who have seemingly quit on the season, so tread lightly. Phoenix has lost four in a row, scoring just 82 points per game in the process, and playing four points below their season average. Toronto is on a back-to-back after getting destroyed by Vegas last night, and they’ve failed to even score 80 in each of their last three games. TSI projects Mercury -6 with a total of 175, and I really have no interest in betting either way here due to the lack of motivation from both sides.
