WNBA Picks
It’s not how many times you fall down, it’s how many times you get back up, and we got back up with a 2-0 day yesterday after the miserable Monday we had. We have now hit a couple straight days of two-game slates, so volume will be hard to come by, but we’ll try to find some winners. Wednesday’s slate features the Connecticut Sun hosting the Golden State Valkyries and the Seattle Storm hosting the Toronto Tempo. Here are the TSI projections for Wednesday, August 26th.
Connecticut Sun (+13.5) vs Golden State Valkyries, O/U 150.5
Connecticut came through for us last night, winning outright (as TSI projected) as 5.5-point underdogs against Chicago; however, now they’re on a back-to-back against arguably the stingiest defense in the league. The Sun have been three points better at home than their season home average over their last three home games, winning two out of three. Golden State’s last three road games have been a point below their season road average, so on the surface, Connecticut has that going for them. TSI projects Golden State -11 with a total of 149, and if you want to adjust a couple points for the back-to-back, I think that’s fair, so there’s really not much value to be had on the spread. Connecticut is scoring seven points below opponents’ defensive averages over their last three home games, while Golden State is holding teams to sixteen points below their scoring averages, so I think Connecticut is in for a rough night offensively. Let’s go off-script with a team total Under here.
Bet: Connecticut Sun Team Total Under 68.5 or better
Seattle Storm (-6.5) vs Toronto Tempo, O/U 175.5
Seattle has not been playing very well lately, even by their standards, as their last three home games have been five points worse than their season home average. Toronto, decimated by injuries, has been 2.5 points below its season road average over the last three road games, while opponents have scored eleven points above their respective season averages against this Toronto defense. TSI projects Storm -3 with a total of 171.5, but honestly, I don’t want anything to do with this matchup since Toronto is such a wild card without Sykes and Mabrey, and you never know what you’re going to get from a Seattle squad that’s only won one game since July 6th.
