Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for August 12. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Our hosts and analysts will be all over the MLB, which is why it pays to be a VSiN Pro subscriber.

Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets

Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.

Jo Adell Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-108) vs. Tigers

Guardians at Tigers – 6:40 pm ET

Adell has the potential to have a big game tonight. The righty slugger is averaging 2.2 hits, runs, and RBIs against left-handed pitching this year, and he’ll be going to work at hitter-friendly Comerica Park this evening. Adell has also done some good stuff against Framber Valdez throughout his career. He has six hits in 22 at-bats against the southpaw, and four of those hits went for extra bases. If we get one of those big ones tonight, we should cash this.

Jose Soriano Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+134) vs. Red Sox

Red Sox at Blue Jays – 7:07 pm ET

Soriano is averaging 5.7 strikeouts per game this season, and he has gone Over 5.5 Ks in 12 of his 23 starts. So, right off the bat, there’s some value in jumping on the righty to finish with six strikeouts at +134 odds. Of course, the Red Sox have been outrageously good about making contact lately, meaning this is a rough matchup for Soriano. However, Boston is due for some poor offensive performances after a scorching hot couple of weeks. That said, I’m not going to completely avoid the Red Sox moving forward.

Cal Quantrill Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+105) vs. Angels

Rangers at Angels – 10:10 pm ET

Quantrill isn’t a pitcher I normally find myself rushing to back, but I can’t help myself with a total of 3.5 against the Angels. Los Angeles’ strikeout rate against righties is up at 25.1% this season. Only one team has a higher mark than that. The Angels also have the highest Whiff% (27.7%) against righties this year. That said, Quantrill doesn’t have to be a dangerous swing-and-miss guy to reach the four-K mark. And the fact that it’s available at plus-money odds is the cherry on top.

Additional Picks

Drew Rasmussen Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+118 – 1.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 7+ (+250 – 0.5 units) vs. Athletics

Jake McCarthy Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-140) vs. Rockies
