Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for August 2. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Sunday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Sunday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Nick Loftin Over 1.5 Total Bases (-108) vs. Rockies
Royals at Rockies – 3:10 pm ET
Loftin has gone Over 1.5 total bases in 10 of his last 14 meetings with lefty starters. He’s also averaging 2.9 total bases per game in those contests. Well, it’ll be Kyle Freeland on the mound for Colorado tonight. The game is also being played in Coors Field. That makes it hard not to like Loftin to deliver at the plate.
Jacob Misiorowski Over 9.5 Strikeouts (+121) vs. Orioles
Brewers at Orioles – 3:15 pm ET
I never really thought I’d be going Over on a total as high as 9.5, but this feels like the perfect storm. Misiorowski comes into this start having recorded at least 10 strikeouts in three of his last four outings. He’ll now go to work against an Angels team that has a strikeout rate of 24.9% this season. Misiorowski really should roll here.
Rafael Devers Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-105) vs. Padres
Giants at Padres – 4:10 pm ET
Devers has had at least two HRR in 16 of his last 26 meetings with right-handed starters, and he’s averaging 2.7 HRR per game in such games. Well, Michael King will be on the mound for the Padres tonight. That’s a righty. It’s also one that hasn’t been that strong recently, and Devers is 5 for 11 with two homers and four RBIs against him.
Additional Picks
Zack Wheeler Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-103) vs. Orioles
Keider Montero Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+130 – 1.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 5+ (+300 – 0.5 units) vs. Athletics
Wilyer Abreu Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+114) vs. Dodgers
