Sunday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Sunday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Zebby Matthews Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-126 – 1.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 6+ (+164 – 0.5 units) vs. White Sox
White Sox at Twins – 2:10 pm ET
Matthews is coming off a seven-strikeout game against the Athletics, and he now gets to go against a White Sox team that has a strikeout rate of 23.7% and whiff percentage of 27.5%. Earlier this year, Matthews enjoyed the matchup quite a bit, striking out six batters. So, even with the righty doing his better strikeout work on the road, I like him to have another five or six today.
Christian Yelich Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-105) vs. Rangers
Rangers at Brewers – 2:10 pm ET
Yelich has had at least two HRR in five consecutive games, and he has also had that in eight of the last nine. On top of that, Yelich is averaging 2.0 HRR per game against righties this season, and that number goes up to 2.5 HRR per game at home. That said, he should be able to take advantage of a strong matchup against Kumar Rocker.
Matthew Liberatore Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-110 – 1.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 7+ (+175 – 0.5 units) vs. Pirates
Pirates at Cardinals – 2:15 pm ET
Liberatore has had at least seven strikeouts in three consecutive starts. He has also done so in seven of his last 10, and he’s averaging 6.2 strikeouts per game in that stretch. With Liberatore in a nice groove, I’ll take my chances with him missing six or seven bats against the Pirates. Pittsburgh has the highest strikeout rate (26.2%) and whiff percentage (28.7%) in baseball against southpaws.
