Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for August 4. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Tuesday Player Prop Best Bets

Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Tuesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.

Zack Littell Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+134) vs. Phillies

Nationals at Phillies – 6:40 pm ET

Littell is coming off a two-strikeout game against the Blue Jays, but that’s a Toronto team that doesn’t strike out very often. Littell had recorded at least four strikeouts in three straight prior to that outing, and he also had a five-strikeout game against the Phillies on June 23. I don’t expect the righty to cruise in this one, but Philadelphia has a strikeout rate of 23.4% against righties this season. Only six teams have a higher mark than that. That said, at plus-money odds, I’ll take a chance on Littell to reach four Ks.

Tyler Soderstrom Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-117) vs. Reds

Athletics at Reds – 6:40 pm ET

Great American Ball Park is a hitter-friendly environment, so this is a game that could end up being quite high in scoring. Well, if that’s the case, Soderstrom really should make his mark. This season, the lefty slugger is averaging 2.0 HRR per game when facing right-handed pitching, and he has gone Over 1.5 HRR in six of his last 10 games against righty starters. Tonight, Soderstrom gets to go to work against a very hittable one. Brady Singer has been extremely sharp pitching at home this season, but this isn’t a matchup that opposing hitters fear. Soderstrom has actually doubled off Singer before. It’s a good matchup for Soderstrom, who likes sliders and should see them while Singer is in the game.

Javier Assad Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+113) vs. Dodgers

Dodgers at Cubs – 8:05 pm ET

All eyes will be on Tarik Skubal in his Dodgers debut tonight, but I’m riding with the other starter to go Over his strikeout number. Assad really isn’t a high-strikeout pitcher, but he did have six strikeouts in his most recent trip to the mound. He’s also going up against a Dodgers team that has a strikeout rate of 24.1% and whiff percentage of 27.5% in its last 20 games against righties. I think there’s a real chance we see Assad hit four or five Ks tonight — even if Los Angeles comes out on top.

Additional Picks

Patrick Sandoval Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+100) vs. White Sox

Matt Olson Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-131) vs. Marlins

Cedric Mullins Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100) vs. Rockies

Randy Vasquez Over 2.5 Strikeouts (+113) vs. Diamondbacks
